  • Publication number: 20110174887
Abstract: My invention “Blood Type Color Coding” is to identify the different blood types with a specific color or color combination. At the present time blood types are identified by symbols, bar codes or other apparatus only in one color. Fatalities due to wrong blood type transfusion have increased yearly. Blood type Color Coding will allow a more direct way of identifying blood types enhancing the check and balancing regulated assessment and decreasing the possibility of error (a patent receiving a wrong blood type transfusion which can result in death).

  • Patent number: 7765115
Abstract: A method and system for online processing of life insurance applications includes receiving information that identifies an individual to be insured and describes the insurability of the individual. A certification may be received via an electronic data communications link confirming whether an illustration of a life insurance policy was delivered to the policy applicant. Furthermore, information may be received via an electronic data communications link from a third party confirming the identity of the individual to be insured. When a commitment to purchase the policy is received, a personalized temporary insurance certificate may be issued to the applicant, preferably accompanied by a temporary insurance agreement specifying the terms of temporary life insurance coverage extended to the individual.

  • Publication number: 20080226720
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for tissue regeneration, particularly for treating skin lesions such as wounds. In one aspect, the invention provides a wound healing composition comprising living cells such as fibroblasts within a support matrix such as fibrin, in which the cells have a wound healing phenotype, and in which the composition is single layered and has been incubated for up to about 8 days to allow development of the wound healing phenotype. The compositions and methods of the invention are useful especially for assisting the process of wound healing, particularly chronic open lesions that are slow to heal or resistant to healing.

  • Patent number: 7236241
Abstract: A method of making a standard tool for calibrating polarimeters that analyze stress in photoelastic material, includes the steps of partially annealing a starting piece of tempered glass so that the starting piece has a retardance below 250 nm/cm, removing a peripheral portion of the starting piece (preferably, at least about 20% of its radial dimension) to leave a working piece, cutting a rectangular parallelepiped from the working piece, polishing two opposing faces of the rectangular parallelepiped where the two opposing faces are spaced apart by a measurement distance through which light passes during stress analysis in a polarimeter, and determining a birefringence of the rectangular parallelepiped across the measurement distance using a calibrated polarimeter. The standard tool is the rectangular parallelepiped having the determined birefringence for the measurement distance. The method can be used to make a set of the standard tools with different measurement distances.

  • Publication number: 20060095282
Abstract: A computing system, method, and computer program product display a plurality of metric values by forming a plurality of cells within a two-dimensional array and generating and displaying, within the plurality of cells, an indication of mutual importance for a set of metric values associated with two entities. The two entities are within one business entity or represent two business entities. The indication of mutual importance is selected from a fixed set of values of relative importance and indicated by one of a set of colors, a set of grey-scale tones, a set of backgrounds, a set of patterns, and a set of cell border styles. The method further identifies at least two metrics values in conflict, creates a diagram wherein conflicting metrics values are arranged in a circular manner, and indicates a relationship between conflicting metric values as a line with a steering direction indicated by an arrowhead.

  • Patent number: 6895772
Abstract: The invention is directed to an evaporative cooling device including a stand-alone housing that is not connected to any structure. The housing is multi-sided and evaporative pads are placed inside the opening of each of the multi-sides. An electric centrifugal blower is placed inside the housing to draw air through all of the evaporative pads and the to discharge the same in a vertical direction through an opening in a top cover. The top cover has a directional spout placed over the opening to direct air in multi-adjusted directions. The cooling device is intended to be used in wide open playing or open fields or in open sided warehouses or work stations. A smaller size is intended to be used in semi-confined areas such as verandas, patios, lanais, porches etc. A flexible air duct can be attached to the spout so a to temporarily deliver cooled air to a confined spaces such as attics in a house.

  • Patent number: 6842984
Abstract: A spooless trimmer head which utilizes finite lengths of trimmer line inserted through apertures in the trimmer head housing. The lines are thick, strong, long lasting and easily replaced when worn. One end of each line extends from the trimmer head to rotate and cut vegetation. The line includes a collar having a flange formed on an opposite end to retain a distal end of the line in the trimmer head housing. The line is crimped to the collar approximately ? the distance from the collar to the distal end of the line. The crimping location in combination with the position of the flange of the collar reduce the stress and strain on the trimmer line and enhance the longevity of the line.

  • Publication number: 20040014808
Abstract: Incubations with Nocardia sp., NRRL 5646 were conducted to produce new derivatives of the abietane-diterpene chemoprotectant and antioxidant, carnosic acid. Reduction of the C-20 carboxylic acid functional group followed by methylation at the C-12 phenol afforded the novel compound 11,20-dihydroxy-12-methoxy-abiet-8,11,13-triene. Oxidative cyclization of carnosic acid to carnosol followed by dihydroxylation at the isopropyl moiety afforded the novel compound 11,12,16,17-tetrahydroxy-7-10-(epoxymethano)-abiet-8,11,13-triene-20-one. The metabolites are new carnosic acid derivatives whose structures were confirmed by mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopic analysis. The radical quenching properties of the new metabolites using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free-radical scavenging assay showed activities improved over that of mixed tocopherols and carnosic acid.
