  • Publication number: 20040095622
Abstract: A scanner with an adjustable opening for receiving light at least includes a chassis with two grooves and an adjustable grating board. The grooves are positioned at two ends of a first surface on the chassis. A long, narrow opening is built into the first surface so that the light reflected by the document can enter the chassis. The grating board positioned on the built-in opening includes a grating opening and at least two engaging bars. The grooves are positioned and shaped according to shape of the engaging bars so that the grooves can engage with the engaging bars. The grating board can be moved horizontally as the engaging bars slide along the grooves. The grating board is fixed in a precise position and calibrated to reduce unwanted light from entering the chassis.

  • Publication number: 20040080796
Abstract: A light gathering apparatus of a scanner is disclosed. A light source module of the light gathering apparatus is separated from a scanning module and is disposed on the main body of the scanner chassis, and a light gathering device and a light guiding device are used to guide light onto a scanning line of an original document. Because the light source module is separated from the scanning module, it is beneficial for miniaturization design of the scanner, and the scanner is easy to be cooled down, thereby decreasing noise and distortion resulted from a charged coupled device (CCD), reflection mirrors, or the main body of the scanning module being heated.

  • Publication number: 20040008431
Abstract: A light collection member with a reflection part is installed on an optical chassis and at least includes a reflection piece in an elliptic columnar, wherein the reflection piece has a first focusing point and a second focusing point, and the second focusing point is about located on a scanning line on a document; a light source being used to supply the needed light beam for the scanning process; a light collection mask being used to cover the light source. The light collection mask has an opening. The opening is located on the first focusing point of the reflection piece. During the scanning process, the light beam emits from the opening and is focused onto the second focusing point on the scanning line, according to the focusing principle for an elliptic geometric shape.
