Publication number: 20240003709Abstract: A system of one embodiment provides for efficient grid-estimation of spherical geo-probability function. The system includes a memory and a processor. The system accesses data, wherein the data includes training points and each training point includes a latitude value and a longitude value. The system also generates one or more grid points around each training point in the data. The system calculates a probability value for each grid point in the plurality of grid points using a probability density function. The system also combines each grid point into a geo-grid. The systems stores the geo-grid. In some embodiments, the system combines each grid point into a geo-grid by adding a probability value of a first grid point to a probability value of second grid point.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2022Publication date: January 4, 2024Inventors: Rebecca Ann Lynch, Michael Thaddeus Moran, Richard Edward Harang

Patent number: 10793318Abstract: A container with a label device for enabling the user to label the contents of the container. The label device is in a side of the container, and has a compartment into which the user can place a label indicating the contents of the container, and from which the user can remove the label. The compartment includes a window through which the label can be viewed from outside of the container. The container and label device are constructed so that the label can be placed in and removed from the compartment only from the interior of the container.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2020Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Inventor: Lori Ann Lynch

Patent number: 10735515Abstract: A two-layer erasure-coded fault-tolerant distributed storage system offering atomic access for read and write operations is described. In some embodiments, a class of erasure codes known as regenerating codes (e.g. minimum bandwidth regenerating codes) for storage of data in a backend layer is used to reduce a cost of backend bulk storage and helps in reducing communication cost of read operations, when a value needs to be recreated from persistent storage in the backend layer. By separating the functionality of edge layer servers and backend servers, a modular implementation for atomicity using storage-efficient erasure-codes is provided. Such a two-layer modular architecture permits protocols needed for consistency implementation to be substantially limited to the interaction between clients and an edge layer, while protocols needed to implement erasure code are substantially limited to interaction between edge and backend layers.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2018Date of Patent: August 4, 2020Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Kishori Mohan Konwar, Prakash Narayana Moorthy, Muriel Medard, Nancy Ann Lynch

Publication number: 20120122615Abstract: A golf tee gauge has a hollow cylindrical form with a first end and an opposite second end. The first end receives the head of a golf tee. Away from the first end and towards the second end, the gauge has a stiffener that spans the internal diameter gauge. The stiffener has a thickness along the length of the gauge that resists impact and axial forces applied to the head of a golf tee. The cylindrical form of the gauge has a wall with its own thickness. In alternate embodiments, the gauge has a plurality of scribes that allow a golfer to select the embedment distance of a tee when used with the gauge. The scribes permit a golfer to cut, or to manually snap off, portions of the gauge, matching the desired height of the tee above the ground for customizing a golfer's tee height.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2011Publication date: May 17, 2012Inventors: Robert H. Lynch, Lou Ann Lynch
