  • Publication number: 20060251609
Abstract: A patch is presented for use in conjunction with a surface, the patch including a backsheet having an adherent surface, wherein the backsheet is translucent; an outermost surface opposite the adherent surface; an adhesive applied to the adherent surface; a peel layer removably attached to the adhesive; and a malodor-reducing agent. A method for manufacturing a patch is presented, the method including producing a backsheet from a water-dispersible polymer; applying a malodor-reducing agent to the polymer; adding an adhesive to the backsheet; and adhering a peel strip to the adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20060004318
Abstract: The invention relates to a disposable device for supplying a material to a vagina. The disposable device includes a housing, a membrane and a material (e.g., a liquid) that is enclosed by the membrane. The disposable device further includes a core that is positioned within the housing. The core is movable within the housing to open the membrane. In some embodiments, the core includes a handle and a swab secured to the handle such that the swab absorbs the liquid that was originally within the membrane. In some embodiments, the membrane includes an elastic member that seals the liquid inside the membrane and the housing includes resilient members that close the second end of the housing. The resilient members engage the elastic member such that the elastic member opens as the core moves within the housing to force the resilient members apart and dispense the material from the membrane.

  • Publication number: 20050256440
Abstract: In some embodiments, the present invention relates to a disposable device for mechanically engaging a vagina. The disposable device includes an elongated handle and an elongated swab that is secured to the elongated handle. The elongated swab has an oblong cross-section in a plane that is orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the elongated swab. In other embodiments, the present invention relates to a method of fabricating a disposable device for mechanically engaging a vagina. The method includes forming an elongated swab that has an oblong cross-section in a plane which is orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the elongated swab. The method further includes securing the elongated swab to an elongated handle. In other embodiments, the present invention relates to a method of engaging a vagina. The method includes positioning the disposable device near a vagina and mechanically maneuvering the elongated handle to manipulate the elongated swab against the vagina.

  • Publication number: 20050256483
Abstract: The invention relates to a disposable vaginal insertion device. The disposable device includes a housing having a first end and a second end and a core that is positioned within the housing. The core includes a handle and a swab that is secured to the handle. The core is axially movable within the housing between a first position where the swab is at least partially within the housing and a stop on the handle is outside the housing, and a second position where the swab is extended through the second end of the housing until the stop on the handle engages the housing to prevent further insertion of the handle into the housing. In another embodiment, the disposable device includes a core that is capable of rotating within the housing such that the handle of the core periodically engages the housing to indicate a relative amount of core rotation.

  • Publication number: 20050148959
Abstract: An interlabial absorbent article configured for disposition primarily within the vestibule of a female wearer includes a generally liquid permeable cover sheet, a generally liquid impermeable back sheet, and an absorbent material disposed between the cover sheet and the back sheet. The back sheet has a water vapor transmission rate that is at least about 20% of a water vapor transmission rate of the cover sheet. The cover sheet and said back sheet may have a contact angle mismatch of less than about 25%. The absorbent material may have a density greater than water. Upon being flushed, the article has an initial neutral buoyancy and subsequently sinks within about 7 days from being flushed.

  • Publication number: 20050131362
Abstract: A personal care absorbent article includes a generally liquid permeable cover sheet, a generally liquid impermeable baffle, and an absorbent material disposed between the cover sheet and the baffle. A water soluble flexible absorbent binder composition is applied between the cover sheet and the baffle and functions as a primary absorbent material and to adhere the cover sheet to the baffle. The absorbent binder composition includes a crosslinked absorbent polymer and a polymer dispersion added in an amount so as to maintain structural integrity of the article for a time period of at least about two hours after the article is immersed in water by being flushed.
