Patent number: 9366615Abstract: In a process for testing filters (4) and (13) of treatment fluid of a hemodiafiltration apparatus (1), each filter has a wet semipermeable membrane (5, 14) which separates a gas-filled first chamber (6 and 15) from a liquid-filled second chamber (7 and 16). The first chambers are pressurized by a pump (19) supplying air, while the second chambers are placed in depression by a drainage pump (17) of used dialysis fluid. A first closed system is formed which includes the first chambers and a second closed system is formed which includes the second chambers. Two pressure gauges (P1 and P2) monitor the pressure in the two closed systems for a predetermined time. The monitoring provides indications relating to the filter integrity.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2014Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: GAMBRO LUNDIA ABInventors: Anna Puppini, Renato Pedrazzi, Mauro Suffritti

Patent number: 8998837Abstract: An apparatus (1) for extracorporeal blood treatment comprising a blood treatment device (2) having a semipermeable membrane (5) which separates a blood chamber (3) from a fluid chamber (4). A used fluid line (7) connects the fluid chamber to a used fluid discharge. A first pump (8) controls the ultrafiltration through the semipermeable membrane. A second pump (9) arranged in the used fluid line downstream of the first pump keeps pressure between the first and the second pump at a constant predetermined value. The invention provides a protection system against any possible pressure change in the used fluid discharge in a hemodialysis or hemo(dia)filtration apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Gambro Lundia ABInventors: Massimo Fava, Mauro Suffritti, Anna Puppini

Patent number: 5893382Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for flushing a blood treatment apparatus. The blood treatment apparatus has a first compartment and second compartment separated by a semipermeable membrane substantially impermeable to gas. A flushing circuit is set up by connecting an inlet of the blood treatment apparatus to a flushing liquid source and an outlet of the blood treatment apparatus to a discharge pipe. Liquid is circulated through the flushing circuit in pressure waves. These pressure waves dislodge air bubbles adhering to an inner wall of the blood treatment apparatus and discharge the air bubbles in the flushing liquid.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1997Date of Patent: April 13, 1999Assignee: Hospal AGInventor: Anna Puppini
