Abstract: A method and apparatus for implementing a business card having a calling card feature are provided. In conjunction with a long distance switch and a suitable toll measuring computer equipped with an appropriate memory, a number of cards can be given out by a publisher of business cards to a variety of recipients. Each recipient is typically provided with a unique PIN which can be used for calling a toll free number. This number is called, the PIN number is loaded, and then a long distance call is placed at no charge to the recipient. By use of appropriate individual PIN associated data and appropriate seasonal reloads of the time available and still to be used with each PIN, the recipient is encouraged to call time and time again so that the recipient builds into his own memory and retains in that memory the name of the person or business or service provider who has given him this gratuity.
