  • Publication number: 20240200933
Abstract: Sensors with an addressable depth range and/or field of view are disclosed. Computing devices with such sensors are also disclosed. A sensor may include multiple output couplers that are positioned at different distances from a receiver. Through selective enabling of the output couplers, light or other radiation generated by a transmitter may be directed toward the output couplers and selectively emitted from the sensor at different distances from the transmitter. Such selective emitting may adjust a depth range and/or field of view of the sensor. A computing device may include a single sensor that is used across applications and/or processes having different needs with regard to depth range and/or field of view.

  • Publication number: 20240204486
Abstract: This disclosure describes a red-green-blue (RGB) vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) array. Each VCSEL in the VCSEL array has a grating, one or more active regions and two distributed Bragg reflectors. Each VCSEL corresponds to either red, green or blue wavelengths. The number of active regions in each VCSEL may be based on the color emitted.

  • Publication number: 20240206289
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optical source assemblies for use with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) based screens for mobile applications. A screen having one or more layers may be used in conjunction with a plurality of optical source assemblies embedded within or behind the screen, with the plurality of optical source assemblies configured to emit beams at certain locations within the screen, and where at least one of the one or more layers is configured to adjust or affect diffractive characteristics of beams emitted by the plurality of optical source assemblies. The screen may be an OLED based screen. The layers may include a thin-film-transistor (TFT) layer and an OLED layer. The TFT layer and/or the OLED layer may be configured to multiply emitter count on a projected area, and/or to shape emitter count and/or properties.

  • Publication number: 20240186766
Abstract: This disclosure describes a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) structure with a locked polarization and collimating optical element. The VCSEL structure comprises a grating, an optical emitter such as a lens and a plurality of GaAs/AlGaAs mirrors between the grating and the optical emitter. The grating located between the mirror stacks and above or below the active region is able to polarize incident waves of the VCSEL structure.
