  • Publication number: 20120121456
Abstract: The subject of the invention is an extruded product, of the bar or rod or tube type, with very good precision-turning properties, made of a wrought precision-turning aluminium alloy of the following composition: 0.8?Si<1.5%, optionally 1.0<Si?1.5%, 1.0<Fe?1.8%, optionally 1.0<Fe?1.5%; Cu: <0.1%; Mn: <1%, optionally <0.6%; Mg: 0.6-1.2%, optionally 0.6-0.9%; Ni: <3.0%, optionally 1.0-20.%; Cr: <0.25%; Ti: <0.1%; other elements <0.05% each and 0.15% in total; and the balance aluminium. The subject of the invention is also a precision-turning part obtained from the extruded product as defined above.

  • Publication number: 20100200205
Abstract: An extruded product, particularly a drawn tube made from an alloy of the 6XXX series with the following composition, in weight %: Mg: 0.4-0.7, Si: 0.4-0.7, Fe: 0.1-0.3, Zn: 0.16-0.3, Ti: 0.12-0.3, Mn<0.10, Cu<0.05, Cr<0.05, Ni<0.05. others<0.05 each and <0.15 in total, remainder being aluminum, with the ratio Si/Mg between 0.9 and 1.3. The tubes are advantageously used for cabin air-conditioning systems in motor vehicles using CO2 as refrigerant gas. In such systems, the product offers an advantageous combination of good mechanical properties at operating temperatures and high resistance to perforating corrosion necessary for extended operating life without leaks.

  • Publication number: 20100190027
Abstract: An extruded product, in particular a tube, made of alloy composed as follows (% by weight): Si<0.30, Fe:<0.30, Cu<0.05, Mn: 0.5?1.2, Mg 0.5?1.0, Zn<0.20, Cr: 0.10?0.30, Ti<0.05, Zr<0.05, Ni<0.05, others<0.05 each and<0.15 total, the remainder aluminum. The invention is further directed to a manufacturing process for tubes extruded from this composition including the steps of casting a billet, optionally homogenizing this billet, extruding a tube, drawing this tube in one or more passes, and continuously annealing at a temperature ranging between 350 and 500° C. with a rise in temperature of less than 10 seconds. The tubes according to the invention are advantageously used for air-conditioning systems for the passenger compartment of motor vehicles using CO2 as a refrigerating gas.
