  • Patent number: 6168585
Abstract: An absorbent garment includes an outer cover defining opposite waist regions and an elastically suspended absorbent assembly. The absorbent assembly, which has a longitudinal axis and opposite longitudinally spaced ends, includes an absorbent core and a moisture barrier. The garment also includes a tummy band formed of an elastic material and operatively joined to the outer cover adjacent at least a portion of one of the waist regions. In one embodiment, the tummy band is capable of stretching in first and second substantially perpendicular directions and elastically connects one end of the absorbent assembly and the outer cover. In an alternate embodiment, the tummy band elasticizes a portion of one waist region and a suspension member elastically connects one end of the absorbent assembly and the outer cover.

  • Patent number: 5807362
Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, is disclosed which is designed to absorb menstrual fluid. The absorbent article includes a liquid-impermeable baffle, a first absorbent layer and a second absorbent layer. The second absorbent layer is positioned between the baffle and the first absorbent layer and has a higher transverse wicking rate than the first absorbent layer. The absorbent article can be visually inspected to determine if it is linear its maximum fluid capacity before leakage occurs.

  • Patent number: 5613959
Abstract: A disposable article, such as a diaper, for absorbing and containing urine and other body exudates has an absorbent insert pad that may be flushed in a toilet. The article preferably includes a backing sheet and a bodyside liner that are substantially coterminous. In one embodiment of the invention, a secondary absorbent body, which is disposed between the backing sheet and the bodyside liner, has a pocket formed therein. The absorbent insert pad is positioned against the bodyside liner and located generally within the pocket. A cover is releasably attached to the bodyside liner to maintain the insert pad within the pocket.

  • Patent number: 5540332
Abstract: A wet wipe having an improved dispensability and a method of producing the same are described. The wet wipe defines a pair of opposite end edges. At least a portion of one of the end edges is configured in a non-linear pattern which is adapted to facilitate a dispensing of the wet wipe. The end edge of the wet wipe which is configured in the non-linear pattern is further configured to provide a peel force of no more than 50 grams and a peel force ratio of at least 1.1. The wet wipe is also configured to provide an average dispensing force of no more than 10 grams and a dispensing force ratio of at least 1.1.
