  • Patent number: 9032623
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a front face (21) for a burner (1), particularly for the gasification of solid carbonaceous materials by partial combustion. The front face (21) comprises a central aperture (23) corresponding to the discharge end of the burner, a front side wall (24) and a backside wall (25) spaced by one or more baffles (26) defining a coolant flow path with a coolant inlet (30) and a coolant outlet (31). The front side wall (24) and the one or more baffles (26) are made of a single piece of metal and the backside wall (25) is welded on the free top ends of the one or more baffles. The front face can for example be made of a steel according to UNS N07718.

  • Patent number: 8246915
Abstract: Disclosed is a removable cooling module (1), for use in a reactor (20) for carrying out an exothermic reaction, comprising a coolant feed tube (2); a distribution chamber (4); a plurality of circulation tubes (5); and a collection chamber (6); said coolant feed tube (2) having at its first end an inlet (3), for charging the coolant module (1) with coolant, and communicating with said distribution chamber (4) at its second end; each of said circulation tubes (5) communicating with the distribution chamber (4) through a first end and communicating with said collection chamber (6) through a second end; the collection chamber (6) having an outlet for discharging coolant. The modular nature of the invention facilitates removal of individual cooling module (1) from a reactor shell (21).

  • Publication number: 20120100496
Abstract: The invention relates to a burner, particularly for the gasification of solid carbonaceous materials by partial combustion. The burner comprises a central channel (2) and at least one coaxial channel (6), the channels leading from a upstream supply side to a downstream discharge end. The channels (2, 6) are defined by concentric walls (3, 5) having free downstream outer ends profiled to define an annular slit (10) forming a discharge end of the coaxial channel (6) and converging towards an adjacent discharge end of the central channel (2). A connection block (11) intersects at least the coaxial channel (6), and optionally also present cooling jackets. The block (11) is provided with one or more openings (12) in line with the corresponding channel parts at both sides of the block (11).

  • Patent number: 7448601
Abstract: A sparger system (10) for a reactor (21) includes a feed pipe arrangement for feeding reactants to the spargers on the floor of the reactor, via a distribution system disposed above the spargers. The outlets (12) of the spargers are typically oriented towards the floor or parallel to it in order to eject gas or other reactants across the floor. This reduces settling of catalyst on the floor of the reactor, which improves mixing of the slurry and reduces the problems associated with uncontrolled reactions.

  • Publication number: 20070199887
Abstract: A removable filter system for a reactor has a filter housing into which a filter module is retracted. The housing is sealed and the filter module removed without depressurizing the reactor. This enables maintenance of filters without interrupting production from the reactor.
