Abstract: This invention concerns a method for the detection of target nucleic acids or analoga to nucleic acids (targets), wherein at least one pair of labeled oligonucleotides or analoga to oligonucleotides (probes) are used, characterised in that the upstream probe proportionally hybridises to the target with its 5? end and proportionally hybridises to the 5? end of the downstream probe with its 3? end, as well as the 3? end of the downstream probe proportionally hybridises to the target again, this resulting in a triplex structure built up between the target nucleic acid and the probe pair. This invention moreover relates to a test kit required to carry out the method.
