Abstract: The present invention relates to a cosmetic process which applies onto the skin a self-standing cosmetic sheet for the skin, comprising: at least one biocompatible and/or biodegradable hydrophobic polymer layer wherein the self-standing cosmetic sheet has a thickness of from 10 to 1000 nm, preferably from 30 to 500 nm, and more preferably from 50 to 300 nm. The cosmetic sheet according to the present invention may comprise at least one cosmetic active ingredient. The cosmetic sheet used in the present invention is very thin and not easily perceived on the skin; can be prepared with a variety of materials such as a biocompatible and/or biodegradable material; and can adhere well onto the skin without any adhesive layer so that it is less irritable or no irritable to the skin.

Abstract: Skin tightening compositions for application to the skin for providing an instantaneous and dramatic improvement to the appearance of skin. The cosmetic skin-enhancing system includes a skin application regimen, and an article of manufacture for using the cosmetic skin-enhancing system, including at least first and second separately contained compositions including an oxidizing component comprising at least one oxidizing agent and water, and a chemical peel component comprising at least one hydroxy-acid and water, each contained to be separately dispensed for application to skin, in any order, and wherein the skin-enhancing system may be used according to any one of a number of possible application regimens wherein the oxidizing component is used in conjunction with the chemical peel component, applied in sequence, once or, or more frequently, with applications of at least one of the components on a daily basis for a few or several days.

Abstract: A skin conditioning composition includes a carrier system having a water phase, the water phase including urea or a derivative thereof, present in an amount from about 20% to about 40%, by weight, based on the weight of the composition; at least one amino acid; at least one of triacetin or triethyl citrate; and, optionally, a buffer system having a pH in a range from about 4.0 to about 6.0, wherein the pH of the skin conditioning composition is less than about 7. The skin conditioning composition according carrier system may also include one more additional ingredients, each present in the water phase or in a second phase.

Abstract: A method for improving the efficacy of a skin care active includes applying, in any order, a first composition that includes a skin conditioning composition in carrier system having a water phase having: urea or a derivative thereof, present in an amount from about 20% to about 40%, by weight, based on the weight of the composition; at least one amino acid; at least one of triacetin or triethyl citrate; and, optionally, a buffer system having a pH in a range from about 4.0 to about 6.0, wherein the pH is less than about 7; and a second composition that includes a complementary composition including one or more skin actives not present in the skin conditioning composition. The complementary composition is a leave on or rinse of skin peel composition including at least a hydroxy acid. The compositions may be provided as an article of manufacture with separately contained compositions.

Abstract: A stencil or stamp applicator is used for applying a skin-tightening composition onto skin surfaces. The composition applied with a stencil or stamp results in a discontinuous film made up of sections of about 20 to 150 microns. The discontinuity of the film results in more comfort and a more natural look of facial movement while still retaining a good skin-tightening effect.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a finger-moldable composition capable of forming a free-standing coating and suitable for application to, for example, human lips. The composition includes a thermoplastic block copolymer that includes styrenated blocks. It further includes a sufficient amount of cosmetic oil to allow a human user to mold the composition readily with the user's fingers and form a free-standing film.

Abstract: A method of treating keratinous substrates, includes actuating a packaged makeup priming product that includes a mousse-forming composition to release a makeup priming composition. The method further includes applying the makeup priming composition to the keratinous substrate to form a primed keratinous substrate; and applying a makeup topcoat composition comprising colorant over the primed keratinous substrate. The mousse-forming composition comprises propellant gas; water; and a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer. The mousse-forming composition has a Surface Tension Value of less than about 63 mN/m and is substantially free of surfactant. Kits are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition, preferably a cosmetic composition, comprising: (a) at least one oil; (b) at least one polyglyceryl fatty acid ester, preferably with a polyglyceryl moiety derived from 2 to 6 glycerins; (c) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of resorcinol and resorcinol derivatives; and (d) water. The composition according to the present invention can be in the form of a nano- or micro-emulsion, or can have a lamellar structure or a lamellar phase, with better transparency and stability.

The cosmetic composition according to the present invention has a dispersed phase which has a smaller diameter due to a combination of the (b) polyglyceryl fatty acid ester and the (c) hydrotrope. Therefore, the cosmetic composition can be in the form of a nano- or micro-emulsion with transparent or slightly translucent.
