  • Publication number: 20040129483
Abstract: A vehicle includes a frame, an engine supported on the frame, and straddle-type seat disposed on the frame. The frame includes tubular members that interconnect to create a strong, light, rigid frame assembly. A steering bracket is provided on the frame that allows for variable positioning of a steering shaft operatively connected to a handlebar mechanism to define a plurality of handlebar mechanism positions. The steering shaft has an offset portion that allows the steering shaft to remain spaced from an engine when the handlebar mechanism is moved to a position closer to the rear of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040035623
Abstract: A three-wheel vehicle has two forward steered wheels, one rear powered wheel, and a straddle-type seat disposed between the forward and rear wheels. The vehicle's frame has interconnected tubular members that create a strong, light, rigid frame that can accommodate a high performance engine. The frame's components include upper spars, lower spars, rear suspension plates, a front suspension sub-frame, rear suspension braces, a pyramid-shaped upper support assembly, various cross braces, and a rear sub-frame, among other components. Two or more of the frame components may be integrally formed and removably connected to the other frame components to simplify assembly, maintenance, and replacement. The frame is designed to lower the center of gravity of the vehicle and rider so as to stabilize the vehicle. The front suspension sub-frame includes a longitudinal air passage that directs air into the engine compartment and around an oil cooler.

  • Patent number: 6604594
Abstract: An engine cradle adapted for receiving an engine includes a left side wall defining a C-shaped opening therein. The engine cradle also includes a right side wall, which is essentially a solid wall that provides a reflective surface for reflecting heat to the engine when contained within the engine cradle. The engine cradle also includes a front wall connected between forward portions of the left and right side walls. The engine cradle also includes a bottom panel and a rear panel connected between bottom portions of the front, left side, and right side walls.
