  • Patent number: 10197570
Abstract: Disclosed are a microfluidic system (1) configured to receive cell populations and further configured to simultaneously isolate and quantify at least one sub-population of cells for each cell population, and related methods of using the system. The system comprises a substrate having networks of microchannels comprising a first sorting unit configured to isolate, by magnetic attraction, cells of interest in the population in at least one first sorting microchannel. The network comprises a second unit for simultaneous sorting and counting comprising at least one second sorting microchannel defined by a closed wall having an inner face provided with at least one functionalised electrode configured to trap a sub-population. The second unit further comprising means for counting the sub-population by impedance spectroscopy.

  • Publication number: 20090200165
Abstract: The invention concerns the field of microfluidics and in particular that of electrophoresis on a micro- or nanofluidic device. More particularly, the invention concerns the use of a reactive polymer coating adapted to be submitted to a phase separation under the influence of an external stimulation of chemical or physical type, to modulate the electrokinetic flows (electroosmotic or electrophoretic flows during electrophoresis for example) in a micro- or nanofluidic device. The invention also concerns a method for varying the electrokinetic flows in such a device using said coating, as well as the micro- or nanofluidic devices comprising at least one channel or one capillary tube whereof the inner surface is covered at least partly with such a coating.

  • Patent number: 6854830
Abstract: Injection and proportioning head with at least one thermal injection and proportioning device to supply a determined quantity of liquid, comprising: a hollowed out plane substrate (21) forming a liquid reservoir and covered, in order, by an unconstrained dielectric insulating membrane (22, 23) with a high thermal resistance, and then an etched semi conducting layer forming the heating resistance (25); an orifice (24) enabling fluid communication with said liquid reservoir passing through said membrane and said semi conducting layer; a photolithographed resin layer in the form of a nozzle (27) on said membrane, the duct (28) of said nozzle being in line with said orifice and the volume of said duct being such that the determined quantity of the liquid to be supplied can be controlled. Process for manufacturing this head. Functionalisation or addressing system, particularly for chemical or biochemical micro reactors comprising this head.

  • Patent number: 5786608
Abstract: A semiconductor device (50) comprises a semiconductor base, a heater (20) formed over the semiconductor base from conductive material, such as polysilicon, and a layer (22) for heating by the heater. The heater (20) comprises first (24) and second (26) arms extending over the semiconductor base from a heater portion (28) and an opening (34) extending vertically through the heater portion (28). A first heater contact (30) is coupled to an end of the first arm (24) and a second heater contact (32) is coupled to an end of the second arm (26). The layer (22) is formed over the opening (34) and heater portion (28) such that a vertical axis through the center (36) of the opening (34) extends through the center (36) of the layer (22).
