Abstract: A method for making a skin moisturizing formulation is provided, comprising: providing a dermatologically acceptable vehicle; selecting a skin moisturizing agent based on its ability to absorb and retain moisture, wherein the skin moisturizing agent selected is a cationic dextran polymer, comprising a dextran polymer functionalized with quaternary ammonium groups; providing the selected skin moisturizing agent; combining the dermatologically acceptable vehicle and the skin moisturizing agent to form a skin moisturizing formulation; wherein the skin moisturizing formulation contains 0.05 to 10 wt %, based on weight of the skin moisturizing formulation, of the skin moisturizing agent. Also provided is a method for moisturizing skin.

Abstract: An aqueous dispersion, useful for forming a film, comprises a silicone composition dispersed in an aqueous phase. The silicone composition comprises a product of a reaction of (a) an alkenyl-containing organopolysiloxane having an average per molecule of at least 2 alkenyl groups and (b) an Si H containing siloxane having an average per molecule of at least 2 Si H moieties. The dispersion also comprises a hydrosilylation catalyst and polyvinyl alcohol. The composition is stabilised in dispersion form by the polyvinyl alcohol dissolved in the aqueous phase. The dispersion is an effective method of delivering a pharmaceutically or cosmetically active ingredient by topical application.

The present invention also relates to the simple and highly efficient production of emulsions of amino acid-modified polysiloxane, as well as the use of the emulsions as beautifying components.

Abstract: Personal care compositions containing silicone polymer and organic polymer containing alloy and/or hybrid emulsions are disclosed. The silicone organic hybrid emulsions are particularly useful in hair care formulations to simultaneously provide conditioning and styling benefits. The silicone organic hybrid emulsions are also useful in color cosmetic formulations to provide shine and wash-off resistance benefits.
