    Abstract: Very pure carboxylic acid-1-monoglycerides are prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid with glycidol at a temperature of 80.degree. to 200.degree. C. in the presence of a basic alkali metal or alkaline earth metal compound as a catalyst in the presence of an inert solvent which forms a homogeneous solution with the reactants at the reaction temperature.
