  • Patent number: 5496918
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of forming a polyamide composition having increased crystallization rate which comprises the steps of reducing the oligomeric polyamide content of said composition to less than 8% by weight of the composition, preferably with prior melt shearing, use of 1-2% nucleating filler e.g. talc and a mold release agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 13, 1994
Date of Patent: March 5, 1996
    Assignee: AlliedSignal Inc.
Inventors: Yash P. Khanna, Kevin R. Slusarz, Mina K. Gabriel, Annemarie C. Reimschuessel, John P. Sibilia
  • Patent number: 5324816
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for improving the optical, thermal and/or mechanical properties of a polymer by subjecting a melt of the polymer to a shearing action at an effective shear rate, as for example a shear rate of greater than about 100 sec.sup.-1, for a time sufficient to improve said properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 1989
Date of Patent: June 28, 1994
    Assignee: Allied-Signal Inc.
Inventors: Yash P. Khanna, John J. Belles, Jr., Annemarie C. Reimschuessel, Asis Banerjie
  • Patent number: 5122592
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of preparing polytetrafluoroethylene comprising one or more fractions of polyethylene having a melting point of greater than about 340.degree. C. by subjecting a polytetrafluoroethylene to a shear at elevated temperature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 1, 1989
Date of Patent: June 16, 1992
    Assignee: Allied-Signal Inc.
Inventors: Yash P. Khanna, Georgette Chomyn, Rakesh Kumar, Annemarie C. Reimschuessel
  • Patent number: 5091508
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of modifying the crystallization temperature (T.sub.cc) of polymers, such as polyesters or polyamides, the polymers produced by this process and the molding compositions containing these polymers. The process comprises cooling a polymer to a temperature sufficient to allow grinding of the polymer to an effective particle and then grinding said polymer to the effective particle size in order that the polymer exhibits an increased T.sub.cc.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 1991
Date of Patent: February 25, 1992
Inventors: Yash P. Khanna, Annemarie C. Reimschuessel
  • Patent number: 4749736
Abstract: This invention relates to a crystalline polyamide corporation having dispersed therein a nucleating agent composed of one or more finely divided inorganic materials, one or more fatty acid amides and one or more low molecular weight polymers selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyoxides and polsulfides.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 20, 1986
Date of Patent: June 7, 1988
    Assignee: Allied Corporation
Inventors: Yash P. Khanna, Georgette Chomyn, Asis Banerjie, Annemarie C. Reimschuessel
