  • Publication number: 20050272908
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transparent amorphous polyamide which results from the condensation of at least one diamine chosen from aromatic, arylaliphatic and cycloaliphatic diamines, of tetradecanedioic acid or of a mixture comprising at least 50 mol % of tetradecanedioic acid and at least one diacid chosen from aliphatic, aromatic and cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acids. The invention also relates to a composition comprising, by weight, 1 to 100% of the preceding polyamide and 99 to 0% of a semicrystalline polyamide. The invention also relates to the objects composed of the composition of the invention, such as panels, films, sheets, pipes, profiles or objects obtained by injection moulding. The invention also relates to objects covered with a transparent protective layer composed of the composition of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20050245680
Abstract: The present invention relates to branched polyamides comprising unsaturated ends comprising: at least one unit originating from a multifunctional monomer (A) having more than two functional groups, at least sequences resulting from the condensation, in the presence of at least one unsaturated monoacid, either of at least two different lactams, or of at least one lactam, at least one dicarboxylic acid and at least one diamine, or of a lactam or of an ?,?-aminocarboxylic acid, or of a diamine and of a diacid. The invention also relates to thermofusible adhesives comprising these branched polyamides comprising unsaturated ends, and to the use of these branched polyamides comprising unsaturated ends in sheathing electrical cables.

  • Publication number: 20050165210
Abstract: The present invention relates to copolymers having polyamide blocks and polyether blocks, in which: the polyether blocks essentially consist of PTMG having a number-average molar mass {overscore (M)}n of between 200 and 4000 g/mol; the polyamide blocks are formed from a linear (noncyclic, nonbranched) aliphatic predominantly semicrystalline monomer and from a sufficient amount of at least one comonomer to reduce their crystallinity, while remaining immiscible with the polyether amorphous blocks; and the shore D hardness is between 20 and 70. These copolymers are useful for manufacturing many articles and in particular sports shoes.

  • Publication number: 20050109458
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of bonding two materials with a crosslinkable adhesive, in which a composition (A) is placed on that side of the material (A) which has to bond to the other material (B), a composition (B) is placed on that side of the material (B) which has to bond to the other material (A), and the contact between compositions (A) and (B) and materials (A) and (B) in the presence of heat and optionally of pressure exerted on the materials produces a crosslinked adhesive which joins the two materials together. In one embodiment the compositions are in the form of a film, a mesh or a nonwoven.

  • Publication number: 20050096430
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible semiaromatic polyamide composition with a low moisture uptake comprising, by weight, the total being 100: 60 to 99.5% (preferably 70 to 93%) of at least one copolyamide of formula X/Y,Ar in which: Y denotes the residues of an aliphatic diamine having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms, Ar denotes the residues of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, X denotes either the residues of aminoundecanoic acid NH2—(CH2)10—COOH, of lactam-12 or of the corresponding amino acid, or X denotes the unit Y,x, residue from the condensation of the diamine with an aliphatic diacid (x) having between 8 and 20 carbon atoms, or X denotes the unit Y,I, residue from the condensation of the diamine with isophthalic acid, ?0.5 to 40% (preferably 7 to 30%) of at least one product chosen from plasticizers, nanofillers, polyolefins, crosslinked polyolefins and additives.
