Abstract: The intention is a process for removing inorganic salts from aqueous mixtures of organic compositions capable of forming micelles. The aqueous mixture is subjected to ultrafiltration to remove the inorganic salts and recover the organic compositions in the retentate.

Abstract: A process for reducing the content of free formaldehyde and formic acid in nonionic and anionic surfactants is provided. The process comprises adding an amine compound selected from the group consisting of a) alkanolamines, b) aminocarboxylic acids and c) oligopeptides to a surfactant comprised of a member selected from the group consisting of nonionic and anionic surfactants. The amine compound is preferably selected from the group consisting of a) an alkanolamine containing 2 to 15 carbon atoms, b) an aminocarboxylic acid containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and c) an oligopeptide with an average molecular weight of 500 to 5000. The nonionic and anionic surfactants preferably contain 1 to 100 ethylene oxide units in the form of at least one polyethylene glycol chain. The amine compound is preferably added in a quantity of 50 to 6000 ppm, based on active substance of said surfactant.

Abstract: A water-based carpet cleaning composition containing 10% to 80% by weight of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of sulfonated oleic acid, up to 40% by weight of additional surfactant, up to 10% by weight of water-miscible organic solvent, up to 10% by weight of heavy metal complexing agent, 2 to 30% by weight of resoiling inhibitor, up to 1% by weight of antistatic agent, up to 3% by weight of preservatives, dyes and fragrances, and the balance, water.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of concentrated mono- and/or disalt dispersions of .alpha.-sulfofatty acids by sulfonation of saturated fatty acids and/or fatty acid mixtures with sulfur trioxide, surfactants being added during the neutralization stage to improve the flowability of the dispersions.

Abstract: Processes for the production of partial glyceride sulfates comprising the steps of:A) reacting a mixture containing glycerol and at least one triglyceride with gaseous sulfur trioxide to produce at least one acidic reaction product;B) ageing the at least one acidic reaction product at an elevated temperature; andC) neutralizing the at least one aged acidic reaction product with an aqueous base in the presence of a buffer.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of light-colored oleic acid sulfonates by continuous sulfonation of an industrial oleic acid having an oleic acid content of 65 to 85% by weight and a linoleic acid content of up to 13% by weight with gaseous sulfur trioxide in a molar ratio of industrial oleic acid to sulfur trioxide of 1 : 0.8 to 1 : 1.0, neutralization and hydrolysis of the acid sulfonation product with aqueous bases and bleaching of the neutralized and hydrolyzed sulfonation product give oleic acid sulfonates having Klett color numbers of not more than 100.

Abstract: The use of alkali, ammonium, and/or amine salts of monocarboxylic acid polyoxyalkylester sulfonic acids as low foam surface active agents in aqueous alkaline conditioners for textile fabrics or yarns is described.

Abstract: Alkaline earth salts of vicinally hydroxy, alkoxy-substituted C.sub.16 -C.sub.22 fatty acids corresponding to the following general formula ##STR1## in which R represents linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl groups or hydroxyalkyl groups optionally alkylated with a C.sub.16 -C.sub.22 fatty acid, process for their preparation, and their use as catalysts. Abstract: Alkaline earth metal salts of ether carboxylic acids corresponding to the following general formula[RO--(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n --CH.sub.2 --COO.sup.- ].sub.x M.sup.2+(I)in which R represents C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.22 alkenyl, phenyl, alkylphenyl containing 1 to 3 C.sub.1 -C.sub.15 alkyl radicals, benzyl or phenylethyl, M represents Ca, Sr or Ba, m is equal to 2 or 3, n is equal to 1 to 20 and x is equal to 2; or R is a group of the formula --CH.sub.2 --COO.sup.-, x is equal to 1 and M, m and n are as defined above, are used as catalysts for the ethoxylation or propoxylation of organic compounds containing active H atoms. They afford advantages by virtue of the solubility of the catalysts in the reaction medium and provide for a narrow homolog distribution of the polyalkoxylation products.
