  • Patent number: 8100394
Abstract: A marking ribbon (2) is affixed to a book block (3) in that a partial book block (10; 10.1 . . . 3) with at least one sheet (8.3) has the marking ribbon (2) is placed on the top sheet (8.3) before at least one other sheet (8.4) is deposited on the partial book block (10; 10.1 . . . 3) with the marking ribbon (2) placed thereon during the additional gathering. The gathered book block (12) with the marking ribbon (2) is subsequently bound and trimmed on three sides at the non-bound edges.

  • Patent number: 6607070
Abstract: A method for transferring book blocks or the like into a transport device of a bookbinding machine. The book block is first clamped in a force-locking manner. At least one corner of the back edge or of the front edge of the book block is aligned with a position, which can be set in a predefined manner, by relative displacement of the two sides of the book block in the plane of the book block. The book block is then clamped in a force-locking manner by the transport device.

  • Publication number: 20030145703
Abstract: In a device for the three-sided trimming of book blocks, adhesively bound or wire saddle-stitched paper covers and like printed products (1), the said device having separate cutting stations (22, 27), which are disposed one behind another in a direction of conveyance (F), for the front and head/foot trims, the said direction of conveyance (F) being orientated perpendicularly to the height of the block and perpendicularly to the front-trimming plane; having cutting tables (23, 28) on which the printed products (1) rest, at least partially, during trimming; having knives (25, 30) which are moved up and down and which operate against cutting strips (23a, 28a) fixed in the cutting tables (23, 28) or against lower knives; having pressing beams (24, 29) for pressing the printed products (1) against the cutting tables (23, 28); and having a transporting system (13) which connects at least the two cutting stations (22, 27) and clamps-in the printed products (1) in the process, there are provided a gripper (18) which

  • Patent number: 6352252
Abstract: A conveyer device for bookbinding machines having a number of processing stations and having plate or cleated chains or the like which take over book blocks and convey them intermittently to the processing stations. The plate or cleated chains are driven in a circulating manner and have chain beams that act in opposite directions to one another. The chain beams include longitudinal bearers and longitudinal guides on which strands of the plate or cleated chains are supported. In order to shorten the set-up time, the distance of the chain beams of the plate or cleated chains from one another is varied by a setting drive via setting members for the purpose of adapting to different thicknesses of book blocks. The thickness of a particular book block is automatically determined in the setting-up operation via a measuring arrangement in the intake.

  • Patent number: 5450940
Abstract: A delivery system for receiving book blocks discharged from a book-sewing machine on a transverse stack conveyor, the book blocks on the transverse stack being supported on their front edges and thus being vertically oriented, and rearranging the book blocks so as to be horizontally oriented. The delivery system subsequently reorients the horizontally arranged book blocks and collects the reoriented book blocks into stable stacks.
