  • Publication number: 20240138764
Abstract: A device is for measuring a body parameter for a subject. The device comprises a sensor for measuring the body parameter, a housing element for positioning the sensor on a body part of the subject and an actuator system within the housing element for applying a pressure to the body part. The actuator system comprises two states, a first state based on the actuator system applying a first pressure to a first area of the body part and a second state based on the actuator system applying a second pressure to a second area of the body part. The device also comprises a controller configured to apply the first and second states at different times.

  • Publication number: 20240024194
Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a system for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) decision support, the system comprising: a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensing unit configured to determine one or more PPG signals at a measurement site on a subject; a core unit comprising a user interface; a motion sensing unit configured to detect motions correlated to chest compressions during compression therapy on the subject; and a processing unit configured to: determine presence or absence of a spontaneous pulse based on the detected motions correlated to chest compressions during compression therapy on the subject and the one or more PPG signals; determine a recommendation to be provided based on the determination of presence or absence of a spontaneous pulse, wherein the recommendation is associated with CPR decision support; and control the user interface to output the determined recommendation.

  • Publication number: 20170000668
Abstract: A reformable positioning device providing a user-configurable structure to facilitate customized support and positioning of a subject. The device may comprise a support structure including a support surface having dimensions to accommodate the subject. The support structure may include a resiliently deformable body configured to hold a user-configured shape to position the subject. The resiliently deformable body may be enclosed within and/or otherwise covered by a cover.

  • Publication number: 20150005657
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas sampling device (100) for collecting gas samples from a patient or other gas sources such as industrial processes. The gas sampling device has a flow controller (114) and a flow sensor (112) for controlling a gasflow from the gas source created by a gas pump (113). The gas flow is pulled through an associated absorbent tube (180) located up-stream relative to the flow sensor and pump.

  • Patent number: 8355311
Abstract: An optical storage medium (20) comprises a first data layer (21), for example a Blu-ray (BD) data layer. In addition, the optical storage medium (20) comprises a second data layer (23), for example a DVD data layer. The second data layer (23) is bonded to a substrate (25) using a third layer (27). The third layer (27) comprises an adhesive layer combined with a reactive layer. A reactive agent contained in the reactive layer acts to provide a limited lifetime to the data contained in the second layer (23). The second data layer (23) (i.e. having a limited lifetime) contains access data for controlling access to at least some of the data contained on the first data layer (21). In this way, access to a BD layer can be controlled by a separate DVD layer having a limited lifetime.

  • Patent number: 7492677
Abstract: A method for reading data from a track (3) of a data carrier (2) comprises the following steps. During reading, a tracking quality parameter (Q) is determined, relating to a track portion (3Px) of the data carrier from which the data is being read. The tracking quality parameter is stored in a tracking performance memory (30) in relation to the corresponding track portion (3Px). If a jump back to a previously read track portion appears to be necessary, said tracking performance memory (30) is consulted to determine a target track portion (3P(x-n)) having a sufficient value of the tracking quality parameter (Q); then, a jump back (JB) to the target track portion (3P(x-n)) thus determined is performed.

  • Patent number: 7401001
Abstract: A position determining system for determining a position of a rotor of a rotating motor has sensors that are coupled to the rotor. The sensors generate, in response to a rotation of the rotor, a quadrature signal that has sine and cosine components. The position determining system calculates a sum (A2) of a squared value of the sine component (A2sin2x) and a squared value of the cosine component (A2cos2x). An amplitude correction factor (A) is calculated as the squared root of the sum (A2). An amplitude corrected sine component (sin(x)) is obtained by dividing the sine component (Asin(x)) by the amplitude correction factor (A). An amplitude corrected cosine component (cos(x)) is obtained by dividing the cosine component (Acos(x)) by the amplitude correction factor (A).
