Patent number: 5089162Abstract: Cleaning compositions contain a bleach-stable water dispersible or water-soluble yellow colorant and either a chlorine bleach or an oxygen bleach. The compositions may take the form of automatic dishwashing detergents, in granular or liquid form, and preferably also have a lemon-like scent to compliment the yellow color.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1989Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Anthony A. Rapisarda, Carlene M. Mantell
-
Patent number: 4973419Abstract: Compositions suitable for use as detergents comprise a non-silicate-coated alkali metal phosphate salt hydrated to at least about 50% by weight, and an inorganic salt selected from alkali metal carbonates and sulfates. The compositions for use in, e.g. dishwashing, have improved solubility and dispersion characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1988Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Romeo, Anthony A. Rapisarda
-
Patent number: 4464281Abstract: A method for stabilizing automatic dishwasher detergents containing bleach-sensitive dyes against decolorization by the bleaching agents of the compositions. The detergent powders comprise about 5-70% of a builder, 1-15% of a nonionic surfactant, 1-20% of a silicate, 0-60% of a filler, 0.001-0.1% of a bleach-sensitive dye, water and a bleaching agent. Prior to the addition of bleaching agent, the composition is pre-conditioned by contact with a flow of air. The resultant powder has a color that remains essentially unchanged even after storage for two months at elevated temperatures.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1983Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Anthony Rapisarda, Edilia Camps, Herbert Bauer
-
Patent number: 4460485Abstract: A fabric conditioning and brightening composition especially effective toward polyester textiles is disclosed comprising a cationic fabric softening compound, a cotton- or nylon-substantive fluorescent whitening agent and a carboxylic acid containing at least 10 carbon atoms.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1983Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Anthony A. Rapisarda, Joseph Romeo
-
Patent number: 4421792Abstract: A novel method for applying adjuvants to fabric employing a tumbler-type dryer is disclosed. To achieve uniform distribution in the dryer, the adjuvant, such as a fabric softening agent in accordance with the present invention, is combined with a distributing agent spreadable under the dryer conditions, the concentration of the distributing agent being at least about 5% by weight of the mixture of adjuvant and distributing agent. Novel compositions of matter and articles suitable for use in the practice of this invention are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1982Date of Patent: December 20, 1983Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Jerome Rudy, Anthony A. Rapisarda
-
Patent number: 4379069Abstract: The present invention relates to a powder detergent composition of improved solubility and methods of making them. The composition comprises a silicate free alkaline blend consisting essentially of about 10-60% builder, about 0.6-6% surfactant. about 20-50% alkaline agent and 0-70% filler; and an admixture of said blend with about 10-30% of solid alkali metal silicate and a chlorine donor providing about 0.4-1.5% available chlorine, the pH of the resulting finished product being about 10.4 or greater at about a 0.25% product use concentration.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1981Date of Patent: April 5, 1983Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Anthony A. Rapisarda, Joseph Romeo, Jose A. Lopez
-
Patent number: 4327133Abstract: A novel method for applying adjuvants to fabric employing a tumbler-type dryer is disclosed. To achieve uniform distribution in the dryer, the adjuvant, such as a fabric softening agent in accordance with the present invention, is diluted with a distributing agent spreadable under the dryer conditions, the concentration of the distributing agent being at least about 5% by weight of the mixture of adjuvant and distributing agent, the adjuvant being present in an effective amount. Novel compositions of matter and articles suitable for use in the practice of this invention are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1980Date of Patent: April 27, 1982Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Jerome Rudy, Anthony A. Rapisarda
-
Patent number: 4309299Abstract: The premature release of chlorine from chlorine-releasing bleaching agents in a particulate detergent, caused by the action on such a bleaching agent by some other component in the detergent, is prevented by compacting and granulating a mixture of said other component, preferably with additional constituents which do not have the chlorine-releasing effect, and then mixing those granules with the chlorine-releasing bleaching agent and other appropriate detergent constituents. The resulting novel detergent is a mixture of the thus-produced granules with particles of the said other appropriate detergent constituents.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1980Date of Patent: January 5, 1982Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Anthony A. Rapisarda, Joseph Romeo
