  • Patent number: 6272803
Abstract: A partition system includes adjacent partitions that have aligned top frame members with abutting and horizontally aligned cantilevered end sections. An in-line connector system includes a flat top connector and a U-shaped bottom connector that mateably span between the cantilevered end sections and that engage top and bottom surfaces, respectively, on the top frame members. Specifically, the top connector fits into a cavity in a top of the top frame member. The bottom connector includes a bottom wall and opposing sidewalls that matingly receive and engage bottom and side surfaces of the cantilevered end sections. The connectors combine with a beam-like strength that holds the cantilevered end sections in a particularly stable in-line condition.

  • Patent number: 6158179
Abstract: A wall structure for dividing building space includes several different freestanding base panels such as an internally open partition panel, a sound-deadening partition panel, a glass-supporting partition panel, and a doorway-supporting partition panel, and further includes an overhead system comprising a structural expressway construction, a transom subframe, covers for the subframe, and a glass module attachable to the subframe. The structural expressway construction has a torque box bracket for moving support from an inboard location spaced from the vertical side edge of the base panels to the vertical side edge. The transom subframe mounts atop the different base panels, and telescopingly extends into mating engagement with a ceiling channel.

  • Patent number: 6076308
Abstract: A partition panel system including a partition frame with vertically spaced horizontal frame members defining first discrete attachment locations, a pair of horizontally spaced blades adjustably attached to selected ones of the first discrete attachment locations, the blades including opposing inner surfaces defining vertically spaced second discrete attachment locations, and shelves adjustably attached to selected ones of the second discrete attachment locations. This allows the shelves to be horizontally and vertically adjustably supported on the partition frame in a selected one of a variety of positions. At least one shelf has a front portion with edges that extend partially around in front of the blades, thus providing increased surface area. The shelves are supported on the blades by shelf supports. Connectors on the ends of the shelves are movable between engaged and disengaged positions for securely engaging the shelf supports.

  • Patent number: 5486042
Abstract: A furniture unit includes a worksurface, a supporting base formed by a supporting pedestal and/or a supporting end panel, and a pair of rails connected to the underside of the worksurface reinforcing the worksurface and acting as a standoff between the worksurface and the supporting base, the rails including apertures spaced longitudinally along their length. A bracket is provided including an elongate bayonet-like leg for releasably engaging the apertures in the rail and further includes an accessory supporting end that extends laterally of a worksurface edge. A plurality of accessory units are selectively mounted to the bracket in a position spaced above the worksurface, thus allowing a user to select and position one or more of the accessory units along the edge of the worksurface for optimal use and efficiency of the furniture unit.
