Publication number: 20250075676Abstract: A fuel injector for gaseous fuel is provided. The fuel injector includes at least one valve having a valve seat and a plunger that engages the seat to prevent gaseous fuel flow and is displaced from the seat to permit gaseous fuel flow. Displacement of the plunger away from the seat to open the at least one valve is resisted by a first plunger control mechanism and then a second plunger control mechanism depending on the distance the plunger is lifted from the seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2024Publication date: March 6, 2025Inventors: Donald J. Publication number: 20230050299Abstract: A tensegrity robot includes multiple tensile members connected to multiple structural members to form a spatially defined structure. Each structural member is connected to one or more other structural members by tensile members therebetween. The robot further includes multiple actuators operatively connected to the tensile members and the structural members, and multiple controllers configured to communicate with each of the actuators. The controllers direct control of at least one of tension or length of the tensile members by the actuators to cause a change in at least one of the size, shape or center of gravity of the spatially defined structure to effect robotic actions. At least two tensile members are connected to an actuator such that at least one of tension or length in both of the tensile members are changed in coordination by the actuator.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2021Publication date: February 16, 2023Applicant: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Alice M. Patent number: 6615987Abstract: A method of treating a kaolin particulate material to improve its properties by removal of impurities which includes the steps of: (a) producing a dispersed aqueous suspension of a kaolin particulate material containing at least 0.1% by weight, based on the dry weight of the kaolin particulate material, of separable impurity by adding a dispersing agent to the kaolin particulate material to deflocculate solid particles of the material in the suspension; (b) conditioning the suspension prior to adding selective flocculation polymer thereto by allowing the suspension to age for a period of at least 30 minutes and optionally by adding one or more conditioning chemicals thereto; (c) adjusting the pH of the suspension to be at least about 9.5; (d) adding to the suspension at a pH of at least about 9.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2000Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Imerys Pigments, Inc.Inventors: David Andrew Greenhill, Anthony Allan May, Christopher R. Patent number: 6453657Abstract: A portable hydraulic press with two opposing plates connected by bolts can be clamped on a conveyor chain that has interference-fit connecting pins between pairs of rectangular plates forming the chain links to assemble or disassemble the chain. Once the press is clamped in place, a hydraulic cylinder of the press is then actuated to force the connecting pin in or out of the chain. If the pin is being pushed out, it passes through a hole in a back plate of the press in order to disassemble or break the chain.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2000Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Anthony Allan Teravainen

Patent number: 6066179Abstract: A method and apparatus to estimate properties of an integrated circuit device utilizes reduced resources. The representation of an integrated circuit is sampled using the statistical techniques of survey sampling. An average value of a property is determined from these samples and used to determine the property of the integrated circuit as a whole. Thus a property of an integrated circuit is determined from an analysis of a fraction of the integrated circuit representation. Error bounds associated with the property can be optionally determined from the estimated variance of the sampled property measurements. The method is realized using a general purpose computer. The invention has application to the estimation of integrated circuit manufacturability, yield and other properties.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1997Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: University of EdinburghInventor: Gerard Anthony Allan

Patent number: 5713998Abstract: An improvement is disclosed applicable to the method for producing a calcined kaolin by the steps of wet beneficiating a crude kaolin to form a slurry of the beneficiated kaolin; dewatering the slurry to form a substantially dry calciner feed; and calcining the feed at a temperature of at least 1450.degree. F. by passing a stream of hot gases through a calciner in which the kaolin feed is resident, whereby an exhaust stream of hot gases is generated which entrains quantities of partially calcined and hydrous kaolin pigment fines. The improvement, enabling useful application of the kaolin pigment fines, comprises recovering the kaolin pigment fines from the exhaust stream for use in papermaking. The fines can be recovered at a wet scrubber, and after being partially dewatered, shipped directly as a product slurry to the paper maker.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1995Date of Patent: February 3, 1998Assignee: ECC International Inc.Inventors: Dickey S.
