  • Publication number: 20210345689
Abstract: Vented support structures for garments and garments with vented support structures are described. The support structures are made of silicone or soft plastic. The support structures include one or more openings that allow the body heat of the wearer to pass through the support structure. The support structures are placed in the garment in a region that is required to provide support to the wearer and is prone to perspiration. A method of making such support structures, which includes forming holes in a cured silicone support structure either before the silicone is cured or thereafter is also described.

  • Patent number: 10709175
Abstract: In one embodiment, a garment having a cup portion with two cups, a body portion integrated with the cup portion, and a band are disposed on the garment such that is extends beneath the cup portions. The band is either on the body portion or adjacent the body portion. The garment also has support structures with a configuration, each following proximately a contour of the lower part of its respective cup, wherein a portion of the support structure is formed on and fixed to the band and a portion of the support structure extends on the body of the garment and is attached thereto. As such the support structure configuration is approximately arcuate. The garment also has additional control regions. The control is provided by fabric or materials that have less stretch than the body fabric from which the body of the garment is made.

  • Patent number: 10136680
Abstract: A shapewear or activewear garment that includes stays carried by the back fabric panel of the garment. In this regard, the stays act as anchors to keep the garment in place. Further, the stays provide tension that pulls the front fabric panel of the garment such that the front panel shapes and smoothes the wearer's midsection and or provides support and also provides resistance to shift when the garment is worn such that the garment does not ride up or down on the wearer.

  • Patent number: 8839728
Abstract: An undergarment includes at least one piece of fabric that forms the undergarment. The undergarment has leg openings. The fabric includes edges that surround the leg openings, whereby at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings has a plurality of fibers and at least some of the fibers have free ends terminating at the at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings. A bead of a cured polymer is disposed over the at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings. The cured polymer bead forms a finished edge that is stretchable for adjusting to movement of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 8176864
Abstract: A garment having a finished edge that is an unopposed edge. The unopposed finished edge has a first bead of a polymer material in spaced relation to the unopposed edge. The first bead of a polymer material provides an unopposed, finished edge that is stretchable for adjusting to movement of said piece of fabric. The fabric also has a plurality of second beads of a cured polymer material provided on said fabric adjacent said first bead of a cured polymer.

  • Publication number: 20090047481
Abstract: A method and system for garment manufacture fixes a curable polymer in either a continuous bead or in a non-continuous or segmented bead onto a cut fabric piece. The cut fabric piece, the continuous bead and the non-continuous, segmented bead have a wide array of configurations. If the cut fabric piece has a contoured edge region, a silicone bead proximate that edge has a conforming configuration. In the method, the cut fabric piece is placed in a coordinate space. The location of the cut fabric piece is sensed and that information is used to control the movement of a curable polymer dispenser. The dispenser applies a curable polymer from the curable polymer dispenser onto the cut fabric piece in the desired configuration after which the polymer is cured. If the fabric is cotton, the curable polymer is drawn into the cotton fibers prior to cure.

  • Publication number: 20080302460
Abstract: A method for garment manufacture fixes a smaller panel to a larger piece of body fabric using adhesive to form a panel/body fabric assembly that provides at least one of smoothness, fit adjustability, support and/or control to the a garment. The adhesive is applied to a predetermined limited region of the panel. The adhesive is a thermosetting adhesive. After the adhesive is applied, the body fabric is assembled to the panel. A system of fixing the panel to the body fabric provides a coordinate surface that supports and places the body fabric and the panel in a fixed predetermined location. An adhesive dispenser is positioned relative to the coordinate surface by a controller based upon the coordinates of the panel on the coordinate surface. The dispenser then dispenses adhesive on the. The system aligns and assembles the body fabric to the panel to form the body fabric/panel assembly.
