  • Publication number: 20210259756
Abstract: A monopolar ionisable gas plasma coagulation applicator includes: an elongate shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end, and defining a hollow inner volume and a longitudinal axis of the applicator; an applicator tip mounted on the distal end of the elongate shaft, wherein the applicator tip defines an aperture extending parallel to the longitudinal axis; and an electrode extending through the inner volume and with the applicator tip, the electrode includes an open channel having an electrode tip, wherein the electrode tip is received within the hollow inner volume of the shaft and the aperture of the applicator tip to define a gas flow channel defined by the electrode and the elongate shaft and by the electrode and the applicator tip, the gas flow channel extending parallel to the longitudinal axis within the elongate shaft and extending outwards along the longitudinal axis within the applicator tip.

  • Patent number: 9931156
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument for the treatment of tissue includes a longitudinal instrument shaft having a central axis, an end effector at the distal end of the shaft, the end effector including at least one element movable between a first and a second position. An actuator includes a handle which reciprocates movement between a first and second actuator position, and an actuation wire associated with the actuator for movement. Movement of the actuator causes the wire to move the element between its first and second positions, the wire running longitudinally of the shaft offset on one side from the central axis of the shaft. Compensation wire is associated with the actuator, the compensation wire running longitudinally of the shaft and being offset on the opposite side of the central axis of the shaft to that of the actuation wire.

  • Publication number: 20080009850
Abstract: An electrosurgical system includes a generator for generating radio frequency power, and an electrosurgical instrument including at least three electrodes and. The generator includes a radio frequency output stage having at least a pair of RF output lines, and a power supply coupled to the output stage for supplying power to the output stage. A controller is operable to limit the radio frequency output voltage developed across the output lines to at least a first predetermined threshold value to produce a cutting RF waveform, and a second threshold value to produce a coagulating RF waveform. In a combined mode, the controller delivers both cutting and coagulating waveforms by alternating discontinuously between the first and second threshold values to form a blended signal.

  • Publication number: 20050283151
Abstract: A bipolar coagulating instrument includes a blade-like electrode assembly comprising an upper planar face and a lower planar face separated by an intermediate portion of insulating material therebetween. The upper face includes first and second electrodes separated by a first insulating member, and the lower face includes third and fourth electrodes separated by a second insulating member. The first and second insulating members are out of correlation one with respect to the other, such that there is at least one region in which the first electrode overlies the third electrode, and at least one other region in which the first electrode overlies the fourth electrode. A cutting electrode is provided between the upper and lower faces, extending marginally beyond the periphery thereof.
