Abstract: An improved denture cleansing composition is prepared comprising a pre-granulation of anhydrous perborate using polytetrafluorethylene as a compacting aid, in combination with a monopersulfate. The composition can be tableted on a high speed tableting press and packaged using conventional foil packaging equipment without tablet fracture or chipping.

Abstract: A gel denture cleaner composition is disclosed. The composition comprises a water-soluble detergent; a chelating agent; a gelling agent; optionally, a non-toxic glycol; and water. The composition has particular application on the removal of tartar and calculus as well as stains and plaque adhering thereto.

Abstract: A sprayable liquid denture cleanser composition comprising an aqueous solution of a detergent selected from the group consisting of sulfonated, sulfated and sulfoacetate fatty alcohols, and a chelating agent of the amino carboxylate or organo phosphonate type. The cleanser is preferably dispensed from a mechanical non-aerosol spraying device such that the force of the spray supplements the cleansing effect of the composition. The resulting composition is operable and capable of effervescing at an alkaline pH, at which it is also a more effective cleanser.In a further embodiment, the above cleansing composition may include a colorant and a fade control agent comprising a compound providing a soluble halide ion for applications where it is desirable that the color provided by the colorant will fade within a given period of time. Abstract: A method is disclosed for the preparation of granulated perborate salts having improved utility in compressible compositions such as those formed into denture cleanser tablets. The method broadly comprises forming a mixture of one or more perborate salts such as sodium perborate monohydrate and anhydrous sodium perborate, with a polymeric fluorocarbon such as polytetrafluoroethylene, with the polytetrafluoroethylene present in an amount ranging from about 0.01% to about 0.70% by weight of the perborate salt. The particles thus prepared exhibit combination of improved hardness and specific weight that facilitates their participation in the compressible cleanser composition, together with enhanced disintegration characteristics that are favorably imparted to the cleanser tablets.The present invention also includes the granular salts prepared by the method, which have a broad range of utility in detergents, cleansers and the like.

Abstract: A cleansing composition is disclosed comprising at least one oxidizing agent including an alkali monopersulfate salt, in an amount of from 35% to 60% by weight, a bleaching promotor selected from alkali metal and alkaline earth metal halides in up to about 20% by weight, a perborate salt in an amount sufficient to inhibit metal tarnish and corrosion and a compound providing ammonium ion in an amount effective to inhibit emission by the composition of chlorine-like odor or flavor. The composition forms a solution having a pH in the basic range.Solutions containing the present cleaning composition exhibit improved tarnish and corrosion resistance, particularly in the instance where the solutions are used to clean dental appliances having metal parts.
