Abstract: A vehicle navigation system is provided with a destination input section, a travel route information section, a historical data input section and an expected travel time reporting section. The travel destination input section is provided for entering a destination point. The travel route information section provides at least one potential travel route to the destination point. The historical data input section provides historical time information based on a plurality of actual motorist travel times to navigate various travel routes. The expected travel time reporting section reports to a user an expected travel times based on the historical time information for a potential travel route.

Abstract: An apparatus and method that can display traffic flow data in a vehicle. Current traffic flow data for a transportation link is obtained. The current traffic flow includes at least a current speed of the traffic traveling on the transportation link. Historical traffic flow data for the transportation link is also obtained. An indicium representative of traffic flow is selected based on the current traffic flow data and the historical traffic flow data. The indicium is then displayed to the vehicle's driver, along with an image representative of the traffic link.
