    Abstract: A retail customer tracking system and method is disclosed. The retail system preferably includes at least one surveillance camera for generating image data of customer interactions with products and at least one point of sale camera for generating image data of customers at a point of sale area. An analytics system determines product interactions from the image data of the customer interactions with the products and stores facial image information and the product interactions for each of the customers. When a customer arrives at a point of sale area, facial image information of the customer determined from the image data of the point of sale camera is matched to previously stored facial information for the customer, and associated product interactions for the customer are provided to a management system. The management system then provides sale cues based on the product interactions to the customer at the point of sale area.

    Abstract: A surveillance camera and image data storage system is disclosed. The system includes surveillance cameras that generate image data. Each of the surveillance cameras calculates a self priority value for uploading the image data and sends its self priority value over a local network to the other surveillance cameras. Within each surveillance camera, a rules engine compares its self priority value and the self priority values from the other surveillance cameras to determine whether to upload the image data over the network to a remote storage system or to save the image data within each surveillance camera. This functions as an arbitration system implemented at the level of the individual cameras to arbitrate uploading of the image data, which limits network bandwidth. In another example, each surveillance camera calculates its self priority value in response to receiving security events from other security devices over a network.

    Abstract: A system and method for deadzone detection in a surveillance camera network is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a mobile user device held by an installer is moved through one or more critical paths within the premises while surveillance cameras of the network are capturing image data of the premises. An analytics system then tracks the installer/user device through the image data over the time interval for the critical path definition, and locates deadzones based on position information of the premises along the critical path and absence of installer/user device in the image data over the time interval. In another embodiment, an analytics system identifies individuals within image data captured from the cameras, tracks movement of the individuals across the fields of view of the cameras represented by the image data, and infers deadzones based on tracking the individuals and deadzone times calculated for each of the individuals.

    Abstract: A system and method of designating regions of interest for surveillance cameras is disclosed. The system enables definition of regions of interest simultaneously across multiple cameras. This is useful when the cameras are positioned to monitor the same region of interest within their scenes. Each camera monitors image data for designation of regions of interest, stores the regions of interest, and analyzes the image data from the cameras based on the regions of interest. Preferably, each camera has an integrated analytics system for analyzing the image data based on the regions of interest. A setup process between a user device (e.g. mobile phone) and the cameras enables definition of the regions of interest. In embodiments, the regions of interest are defined in response to the cameras tracking either the user device or an optical device as an operator moves the devices to outline the regions of interest within the scene.

    Abstract: A method and system for configuring surveillance cameras can be used to leverage emerging trends in surveillance camera systems, while also enabling the configuration of cameras to operate in such systems. The method comprises displaying configuration images on mobile computing devices and enabling the cameras to view and capture those images within image data. The configuration images are then derived from image data from the surveillance cameras using integrated or separate analytics systems. Then, configuration information from the mobile device can be paired with corresponding surveillance cameras by reference to the configuration images. In one example, cloud image data storage is allocated as part of this setup and configuration process.

    Abstract: A system and method for overlap detection in a surveillance camera network is disclosed. An analytics system of the system receives image data captured from the cameras and detects motion within the image data. The analytics system then correlates detected motion among the image data from the different cameras and determines overlap of fields of view of the cameras. In a preferred embodiment, a mobile user device held by an installer is moved through a critical path at the premises while the cameras are capturing the image data, and the analytics system determines whether the user device/installer is included in the image data from at least two of the cameras. In another embodiment, the analytics system determines overlap by determining correlated motion detection events associated with motion occurring at substantially the same time in image data from two or more different surveillance cameras and inferring that the motion is related.

    Abstract: A simple, inexpensive, and benign process to pretreat lignocellulose biomass for the economical production of biofuel and extraction of organic chemicals. Lignocellulose solids are mixed or blended with ammonium bicarbonate/carbonate and heated within a pressure reactor. At elevated temperature (e.g., >35° C.), the ammonium bicarbonate/carbonate dissociates into ammonia and carbon dioxide gases and water vapor, thereby causing a rise in pressure within the pressure reactor. Rapid release of the gases from the pressure reactor then ruptures biomass cell wall structures, which facilitates conversion of the cellulose and hemicellulose in the pretreated biomass to sugars that are fermentable into ethanol or other liquid fuels. Optionally, ammonia bicarbonate/carbonate can be reconstituted by cooling and precipitating the carbon dioxide and ammonia gases released from the pressure reactor for further use in the pretreatment process or sequestered as an end product.

The process includes separating toxic compounds from the recycle water via a toxics strip and recovery area. The process includes mixing the detoxified recycle water with an influent solids slurry in a mixing area to provide the diluted influent mixed slurry. The process includes combining the toxic compounds with the dewatered solids effluent to produce a balanced fertilizer.
