Patent number: 10826220Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having an interior space and a retaining finger extending into the interior space. An electrical terminal and a terminal position assurance are each disposed within the interior space of the housing. The terminal position assurance is movable relative to the housing between (1) a pre-lock position, wherein the retaining finger prevents the electrical terminal from being withdrawn from the interior space of the housing, and the terminal position assurance does not prevent the retaining finger from moving relative to the housing; (2) a service position, wherein the retaining finger does not prevent the electrical terminal from being withdrawn from the interior space of the housing; and (3) a lock position, wherein the retaining finger prevents the electrical terminal from being withdrawn from the interior space of the housing, and the terminal position assurance prevents the retaining finger from moving relative to the housing.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2019Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: Lear CorporationInventors: Anthony Butcher, David Menzies, Bhupinder Rangi, Yefim Grinshpun

Patent number: 10559933Abstract: A manual disconnect for an electric circuit includes a base with primary terminals and an interlock connector. A plug assembly has fuse terminals and an interlock resistor assembly. The plug assembly is adapted to be moved relative to the base between a disconnected position, a primary circuit engaged position, and an interlock position. The plug assembly is moved linearly and rotationally relative to the base when moving between these positions. The manual disconnect also includes a connector position assurance assembly. The connector position assurance assembly includes a connector position assurance button that is movable relative to the plug assembly. The connector position assurance button can be moved between a pre-lock position and an assurance position. When located in the assurance position, the connector position assurance assembly prevents the plug assembly from rotating relative to the base.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2018Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: Lear CorporationInventors: David Menzies, Reinhard Pusch, Anthony Butcher

Patent number: 9397459Abstract: A manual disconnect includes a housing and a base attached to the housing by a fastener. The base includes primary terminals. The manual disconnect also includes a plug assembly that includes fuse terminals and a bolt cover. The plug assembly is movable relative to the base between a disconnected position wherein the fuse terminals are not engaged with respective primary terminals, and a primary circuit engaged position, wherein the fuse terminals are engaged with respective primary terminals. When the plug assembly is in the primary circuit engaged position the bolt cover is positioned to prevent the fastener from being removed from the housing. A handle or cover part of the plug assembly is then rotated to a locked position with respect to the base. Then, the plug assembly can be moved further in the insertion direction to close an interlock circuit, allowing current to flow in the primary circuit.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2014Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Assignee: Lear CorporationInventors: Anthony Butcher, David Menzies, Reinhard Pusch

Patent number: 7044813Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving passages. An end cap is coupled to a rear end of the housing and includes a plurality of through passages aligned with the terminal-receiving passages in the housing. A plurality of conductive terminals are insertable into the terminal-receiving passages in the housing from the rear termination end thereof through the through passages in the end cap. Each terminal includes a rear terminating end comprising a crimp section for crimping onto an electrical wire. The cross-sectional configuration of the crimp section relative to the cross-sectional configuration of the respective through passage in the end cap prevents the terminal from rotating as the crimp section passes through the through passage in the end cap.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2004Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: James Frank Amara, Anthony Butcher, Blake Synnestvedt

Patent number: 4078705Abstract: A valve assembly for a small hand-held pressurized dispenser, such as an aerosol can, comprising the known form of valve mounting cup provided with a boss having a top wall and a peripheral side wall, a valve housing located at least partially in the boss and carrying a spring-loaded valve member, and a gasket of a flexible, resilient material trapped between and forming a seal between a rim on the housing and the top wall. The assembly is distinguished by the feature of an annular step in the boss facing away from the top wall and a flange on the valve housing which engages against the step to define the distance between the rim and the top wall and thereby limit the sealing pressure applied to the gasket. The flange may be integral with the rim in which interruptions in the step form gassing paths for filling the dispenser, or alternatively the flange and rim are separate in which case discontinuities such as notches and perforations in the rim and flange form a gassing path.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Aerosol Inventions & Development, S.A. Patent number: 4018365Abstract: An actuator assembly for the pumps or valves of small hand-held dispensers, especially aerosol containers, which are actuated by depression of an actuator member such as a button, includes a stationary component adapted to be mounted on a pressurized dispenser and a collar in screw-threaded engagement with the stationary component and surrounding an actuator member, which collar when tightened down on its screw prevents depression of the actuator member but when turned to slacken it back allows such movement. Preferably the collar moves downwards to tighten it and this movement may be translated into upward movement in opposition to depression of the actuator member by an arrangement of rocking levers.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1976Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: Aerosol Inventions & Development S.A.
