  • Patent number: 10693602
Abstract: A system and method of scheduling transmissions. A wireless device such as an eNodeB (eNB) may schedule a transmission of a wideband (WB) signal on a micro-frame selected from a plurality of WB micro-frames of a WB carrier. A narrowband (NB) subframe may span a portion of the selected WB micro-frame in the frequency-domain, and the selected WB micro-frame may overlap at least a portion of the NB subframe in the time-domain. The WB signal and an NB signal may be transmitted over the WB micro-frame and the NB subframe in accordance with a first numerology and a second numerology, respectively. A WB subframe may be divided into a plurality of micro-frames. The transmission direction of the WB micro-frame may be scheduled according to a transmission rule based on the contents of a payload in the NB subframe.

  • Publication number: 20200196194
Abstract: Traffic data is divided into data streams corresponding to workloads, and the data streams are multiplexed onto slice segments based on a multiplexing requirement or rule. Each slice segment is a physical or virtual processing element in a wireless network supporting network slicing. In one example, the data streams are multiplexed onto the slice segments such that data streams having different utility definitions are assigned to different slice segments. In another example, the data streams are multiplexed onto the slice segments such that workloads in the same cluster partitioned in a T-dimensional vector space are assigned to different slice segments.

  • Patent number: 10588098
Abstract: A transmit power control rule for device-to-device (D2D) transmissions may not be necessary during periods in which no uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received by an enhanced Node B base station (eNB). When uplink transmissions are not scheduled to be received by the eNB, the eNB may send a transmit power control (TPC) command to a D2D capable user equipment (D2D UE) that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a pre-defined transmit power level (e.g., maximum transmit power level). When uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received the eNB, the eNB may send a TPC command to the D2D UE that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a transmit power level defined by a power control rule.

  • Patent number: 10542464
Abstract: It is possible to reduce latency and/or overhead when performing a platoon handover by using the leading vehicle in the platoon to communicate handover requests and/or initial resource requests (e.g., random access transmissions) on behalf of trailing vehicles in the platoon. In one example, a leading vehicle in a platoon communicates a handover request to a source AP to request handover of the entire platoon from the source AP to a target AP. In such an example, the source AP then communicates handover commands to each vehicle in the platoon without receiving separate handover requests from the trailing vehicles, thereby reducing overhead in the access network. The handover commands notify the trailing vehicles of the handover, and may be sequentially communicated to the trailing vehicles based on their order in the platoon.

  • Patent number: 10382896
Abstract: System and method embodiments for auxiliary content delivery are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method in a transmission point (TP) for auxiliary content delivery includes determining a mobile wireless device capable of auxiliary content delivery to an end device according to predicted movement of the mobile wireless device with respect to the end device. The method also includes encoding content data into a plurality of content data packets such that the content data is recoverable by the end device from a subset of the plurality of content data packets. The method also includes transmitting control data and one or more of the plurality of content data packets to the mobile wireless device when the mobile wireless device is within a first proximity of the TP. The control data provides to the wireless device scheduling information for the retransmission of the content data packets to the end device.

  • Publication number: 20190090214
Abstract: Embodiments are provided herein for determining a synchronizing master for device-to-device (D2D) communication in a cellular network environment. In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) receives a discovery signal comprising a timing reference, and determines a transmitter of the discovery signal. In accordance with the determination of the transmitter of the discovery signal, the UE performs one of synchronizing to the timing reference in the discovery signal and transmitting a second discovery signal. The UE performs the synchronizing to the timing reference if the transmitter of the discovery is a cellular network. Alternatively, the UE transmits the second discovery signal upon determining that the transmitter of the discovery signal is a second UE that is out of coverage of a cellular network.
