  • Patent number: 9904750
Abstract: A method includes measuring a plurality of latchup release parameter values of a monitored circuit to generate data. Each latchup release parameter value of the plurality of latchup release parameter values is associated with the monitored circuit exiting a latchup state. The method also include predicting, based on the data and based on one or more characteristic values of a protection circuit coupled to the monitored circuit, whether the protection circuit is likely to prevent an occurrence of a latent failure within the monitored circuit in particular latchup conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 2014
Date of Patent: February 27, 2018
    Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANY
Inventors: Kay Chesnut, Anthony C. Le, MaryAnne Dooley
  • Patent number: 9391448
Abstract: A protection circuit includes a first resistive element configured for coupling to a protected circuit. The first resistive element has a particular resistance value. The protection circuit also includes a voltage regulator coupled to the first resistive element. The particular resistance value is selected to enable a magnitude of a bias current provided to the protected circuit to remain within a first operating current range associated with the protected circuit and to remain below a latchup holding current value associated with the protected circuit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 2013
Date of Patent: July 12, 2016
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Kay Chesnut, Robert M. Martinelli, Anthony C. Le, MaryAnne Dooley
