  • Publication number: 20230088364
Abstract: A software service can be dynamically switched between a stateless mode and a stateful mode in accordance with some examples described herein. For example, a system can detect an event associated with transitioning a software service from a stateless mode to a stateful mode. In response to detecting the event, the system can execute an allocation module for causing a persistent volume to be allocated to the software service. In response to detecting the event, the system can also execute a switching module for causing the software service to switch from (i) the stateless mode in which state information is not stored in the persistent volume to (ii) the stateful mode in which the state information is stored in the persistent volume.

  • Publication number: 20220274180
Abstract: Closed-loop metal powder management methods for additive manufacturing. Virgin metal powder is provided in a closed powder container comprising at least one sensor, tracker, or optical device. The metal powder is transferred to an additive manufacturing system, a portion of a metal powder layer is consolidated, and excess metal powder is transferred from the additive manufacturing system to the powder container, a second powder container, or an internal powder container. Virgin metal powder or a second metal powder are added to the excess metal powder, a quality of the mixed powder is validated, the process is repeated at least once, and powder physical transfer data associated with at least one of the steps is collected and stored in a data repository. Powder material parameters may be measured and assessed, and may be also be stored in the data repository.

  • Publication number: 20180051903
Abstract: An apparatus includes a frame and a damper blade moveable between a closed position and an open position. A biasing member is coupled to the frame and exerts a biasing force to urge the damper blade towards a substantially closed position. A magnet coupled to the damper blade exerts a magnetic force to pull the damper blade from the substantially closed position to the closed position. When the damper blade is in the open position and an upstream airflow pressure falls below a first predetermined threshold, the biasing member moves the damper blade to the substantially closed position, and the magnetic force then pulls the damper blade to the closed position, automatically inhibiting airflow through the frame. When the damper blade is in the closed position and an upstream airflow pressure is increased to a second predetermined threshold, the damper blade is released from the closed position.

  • Patent number: 8987634
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for determining misalignment of a powder feed nozzle and a laser beam. The method includes forming a test structure on a workpiece in at least two different directions by deposition laser welding with powder at substantially constant deposition parameters without relative rotation between a powder feed nozzle and a laser beam, measuring heights and/or wall thicknesses of the test structure along the test structure, and determining a direction and/or an amount of misalignment of the powder feed nozzle relative to the laser beam based on the measured heights and/or wall thicknesses.

  • Publication number: 20100251352
Abstract: A method and system for rendering a set of computer-readable program instructions on a user device as executable or non-executable. The user device or an intermediary device may transmit an access-token request including a device identifier to a server device. The server device determines whether the device identifier matches a registered device identifier, and if so, transmits an access-token to the user device, or to the intermediary device, which in turn transmits the access-token to the user device. The access-token includes an expiration indicator. Preferably, the expiration indicator is not expired when received by the user device, but expires some time after being received by the user device. The user device executes a first set of program instruction to determine whether the expiration indicator is expired, and if so, renders a second set of program instructions as non-executable, otherwise the second set of program instructions are rendered as executable.

  • Patent number: 6859699
Abstract: A network-based method and system for distributing data, such as service data for various types of service processes and models, including software applications, specifications, user's manuals, or parameters, etc, over a data transmission network. A remote service provider maintains a database of the data. The database is updated frequently. The remote service provider maintains a website for authorized users to access the data. Authorized users can access and download desired data by connecting to the remote service provider via the data transmission network. Certain approaches are used to verify a user's identity. In one aspect, a combination of a product code that is specific to a system and a license/activation code that is generated based on the product code is verified. Unless a proper combination exists, the downloaded data cannot be properly accessed. The remote service provider also allows users to purchase a license to access the data online.
