  • Patent number: 5265075
Abstract: A central dictation system includes apparatus for prerecording standard voice files. Users of the system may select one of the prerecorded files. The selected file is copied to a new file, which the user is free to edit. The edited file is assigned to a transcriptionist or is accessible to an authorized listener, in the same manner as a conventional dictation job. The prerecorded standard files may contain, for example, standard radiology reports tailored to each user's preferences. Alternatively, the recorded files may contain questions or prompts that guide users to dictate information required to complete preprinted report forms.

  • Patent number: 4663680
Abstract: Changer apparatus of the type having an input hopper for storing fresh record cartridges, an ouput hopper for storing used record cartridges, a recording deck for recording and for playing back messages on the record cartridges and a mechanism for transporting fresh record cartridges, one at a time, from the input hopper along a transport path to the recording deck and for transporting a used record cartridge from the recording deck to the output hopper. The apparatus further comprises a deck support device for supporting the recording deck in an operating position below the transport path and includes an element for supporting one end of the recording deck and a releasable device for supporting the opposite end of the recording deck. The device is releasable to enable the recording deck to pivot to a nonoperating position and thereby permit access thereto by an operator.

  • Patent number: 4056835
Abstract: Head support apparatus for a recording and/or playback apparatus including a pivotable support member upon which the head is mounted. The support member is pivotally coupled to a pivot rod and pivots in a plane substantially normal to the movement of tape past the record and/or playback head with the pivotal movement of the support member controlled to selectively place the head in contact with the tape. In one embodiment, the tape is stored in a housing which is supported within the recording/playback apparatus, the tape and tape housing being loaded and unloaded with the assistance of a tray. A second support member adjacent the first-mentioned support member is pivotally coupled to the same pivot rod. A spring is coupled between the tray and the second support member to bias the tray toward a receiving position for receiving a tape housing and to bias the second support member toward the tray.

  • Patent number: 4041890
Abstract: Indexing apparatus for indicating the amount of information recorded on or transcribed from a record medium. A non-linear index scale having, for example, time markings thereon, is moved into view concurrently with the rewind movement of the record medium to a beginning location in preparation of a reproducing, or transcribing operation. The length of index scale viewable by an operator represents the amount of recorded information to be transcribed; and as transcription proceeds, the scale remains stationary and is scanned by an indicator. For an information recording operation, the index scale is moved fully into view and is scanned by the indicator.
