  • Publication number: 20070256410
Abstract: A diesel particulate filter of a motor vehicle is cleaned of ash, typically using equipment already available in a service shop. The filter apparatus is disconnected from the exhaust system of a motor vehicle. The filter apparatus is reversed and reconnected to the motor vehicle's exhaust system in a configuration opposite to which the filter apparatus was originally connected. The engine is started and allowed to run at a high idle and no load engine speed to blow ash from the diesel particulate filter into the exit tubing. The ash is then collected in an ash collector.

  • Publication number: 20070079793
Abstract: A system and method for avoiding loss of prime in a primed fuel system of a diesel engine (10) that propels a motor vehicle. With the engine running, a control system (14) shuts down the engine when a fuel level sender (20) indicates an incipient risk of the fuel system losing its prime due to insufficient fuel in the tank (16). In one embodiment, the engine cannot be re-started until more fuel is added to the tank. Another feature allows engine re-starting and limited running after a shut-down by first turning the ignition switch (48) to OFF.

  • Publication number: 20060004030
Abstract: Compounds of formula (1), pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates and in vivo hydrolysable esters thereof, have activity as pharmaceuticals, in particular as modulators of chemokine receptor (especially CXCR2) activity, and may be in the treatment (therapeutic or prophylactic) of conditions/diseases in human and non-human animals which are exacerbated or caused by excessive or unregulated production of chemokines.

  • Publication number: 20050241878
Abstract: A bulk material transport vehicle access structure includes an elongated service platform for workers which is pivotally supported at its opposite ends to cantilever arms on parallel horizontal axes to avoid binding between the roller carriages of the cantilever arms and a pair of support pillars. The floor of the platform includes a walkway and a doorway covered by a plurality of side by side doors which may be selectively opened. Electric controls are provided to automatically stop operation of the power means used to control the elevation of the cantilever arms should the service platform become tilted a predetermined extent. Electric controls are also provided to stop lowering of the service platform when it reaches the top of a bulk material transport vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050081835
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculating system for a turbocharged diesel engine utilizes an electrically driven compression pump to boost exhaust gas pressure before return to the engine induction system. Exhaust gas is drawn from the exhaust system or stack some distance removed and downstream from the outlet from the exhaust turbine, compressed to overcome the intake manifold boost pressure, and returned to the intake system along an extended pipe to cool the gas. The compressor is energized from the vehicle battery during periods of demand for peak pressure demand on the engine thereby recycling recaptured energy from the battery to boost engine output. Exhaust turbine performance during periods of peak loading is also improved.

  • Patent number: 4460165
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling emissions from the cast house of a blast furnace system includes hood means covering the iron trough from the blast furnace, the hood means having a hatchway formed therein adjacent to the blast furnace discharge notch and closed by a vertically-removable hatch cover which is raised and lowered by cables which extend upwardly over sheaves carried by a yoke assembly mounted on the bustle pipe immediately above the iron trough and then to a remote winch. Means are provided on the yoke assembly for latching the latch cover in its raised position.
