Abstract: A submersible pump comprises a motor housing, a pump beneath the housing having an impeller magnetically driven through a division wall by the motor, a heat dissipation wall forming a hollow which extends into the motor housing from the division wall, a hollow bleed post extending upwardly from the bottom of the pump into the hollow of the heat dissipation wall and providing a bleed discharge path from the pump and through the hollow of the wall, and back into the sump of the air conditioner.

Abstract: A shaft and pulley assembly for a blower having a scroll housing containing an impeller utilizes a square section shaft having a pulley retained thereon, an impeller having a hub with inner surfaces which lie in face-to-face contiguity with the shaft, a pair of adaptors having inner surfaces which also lie in face-to-face contiguity with the shaft and having curved external surfaces which support the adaptors from bearings which are themselves carried in bearing housings which are fixed with respect to the scroll housing, at least one of the adaptors having latches thereon which retain its said bearing against displacement.

Abstract: A fan casing volute comprises two half members which are joined to one another, each half member being formed by a moulding process from a polymeric material, the volute being characterized by central bearing housings in intake openings of the volute end plates, and a plurality of U-shaped arms which support the bearing housings, all being in a single monolithic moulding, and all having substantially similar cross-sectional thicknesses.

Abstract: A boss of a pulley is provided with interference lobes which are directed radially inwardly and which, upon assembly, bear against the surfaces of a non-circular shaft and cause consequential deformation of the boss. This ensures a continued pressure between the boss and the shaft which can result in firm retention of the pulley to the shaft, notwithstanding the inherent dimensional instability of polymeric material.

Abstract: A water bleed-off device for an evaporative air conditioner comprising an elongate water collection tray arranged to lie beneath a filter pad/filter pad support frame assembly so that water draining from the bottom of the filter pad is collected by the tray, the tray having a depending funnel arranged to communicate with a drain outlet in the base tank of the air conditioner whereby the water collected in the tray can be bled to drain through the depending funnel.
