Publication number: 20230192340Abstract: A rotary filling machine for filling containers with bridgeable dry materials includes a turret supporting a plurality of circumferentially spaced drop buckets and a plurality of funnel assemblies located under the drop buckets. A stationary slide plate is located vertically between the funnel assemblies and the drop buckets. The slide plate is configured such that flow paths from the bottoms of the drop buckets to the inlet openings of the funnel assemblies increase progressively in at least a portion of a circumferential extent of the slide plate. Drop buckets are located above the slide plate and rotate with the turret. Each drop bucket is provided with one or more partitions that hinder the “snow-plowing of particles” along the edge of the associated fill opening in the machine’s fill plate rather than the sweeping of those particles into the fill opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2023Publication date: June 22, 2023Inventors: Joshua A. Schwartz, James R. Knudsen, Ronald B. Brandt, James P. Navin, Anthony D. Stefanelli, Darren Beahler, Andrew Boles

Publication number: 20220267041Abstract: A rotary filling machine includes a rotatable fill plate with fill openings defined therein, a plurality of circumferentially spaced drop buckets mounted above the fill plate and configured to rotate with the fill plate, and a rotating mounting plate mounted on top of the fill plate and disposed below the drop buckets. Each drop bucket includes an inner radial wall, an outer radial wall, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall surrounding a volume bounded by top and bottom openings. A coupler for each drop bucket includes a first connector, such as a socket, extending from an outer surface of the inner radial wall and a mating connector, such as a post, extending upwardly from the mounting ring. A plurality of ridges or protrusions are formed on a side surface of at least one of the walls to reduce the planar surface area available for adhesion to materials being dispensed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2022Publication date: August 25, 2022Inventors: Joshua A. Patent number: 11384787Abstract: A composite vehicle driveshaft is provided with a crash collapse system that allows for a controlled longitudinal collapse of the driveshaft by facilitating telescopic movement of various components with respect to each other during a crash event. The crash collapse system may include a collapsible joint with a sleeve that is concentrically bonded in an end of a composite tube and a stub end assembly that is spline-engaged and interference fit within the sleeve, such as by way of a press-fit and/or a thermal shrink-fit procedure. This relationship may rotationally lock and axially fix the stub end assembly to the sleeve unless, during a crash event, the composite vehicle driveshaft experiences a compression or push-type force that exceeds a minimum breakaway or collapse force value that longitudinally and telescopically collapses the composite vehicle driveshaft.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2019Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: Composite Drivelines, LLCInventors: James Lee Dorman, Kai-Peter Berndt, Anthony D. Stefanelli, Gregg Piper

Publication number: 20210323707Abstract: A rotary filling machine for filling containers with bridgeable dry materials includes a turret supporting a plurality of circumferentially spaced drop buckets and a plurality of funnel assemblies located under the drop buckets. A stationary slide plate is located vertically between the funnel assemblies and the drop buckets. When viewed in a direction of turret rotation, the slide plate has an upstream end, a downstream end, and inner and outer edges. A portion of the slide plate is tapered progressively in diameter toward its downstream end such that flow paths from the bottoms of the drop buckets to the inlet openings of the funnel assemblies increase progressively in diameter with the taper of the slide plate. Also provided is a funnel assembly and drop buckets provided with one more partitions that hinder the “snow-plowing of particles” along the edge of the associated fill opening in machine's fill plate rather than the sweeping of those particles into the fill opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2021Publication date: October 21, 2021Inventors: Joshua A. Schwartz, James R. Knudsen, Ronald B. Brandt, James P. Navin, Anthony D. Stefanelli, Darren Beahler, Andrew Boles

Patent number: 9950856Abstract: A split hopper for dispensing granular or powdery materials has a hopper body and a lid. At least the hopper body is formed principally from a castable resin material such as polyurethane. The hopper body is formed from two hopper body sections mating at vertical faces and hinged to one another. Tooling mounts and other features such as clamping lugs can be cast directly into the hopper body sections during the casting process. The lid may be sealed to the top of the hopper body via a ring seal that may seal both radially and axially against the hopper body. A tool holder may be provided beneath the discharge opening of the hopper body for selectively engaging tooling so that the tooling does not fall out of the hopper body when the hopper body is opened.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2016Date of Patent: April 24, 2018Assignee: Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery, Inc.Inventors: Anthony D. Publication number: 20090008181Abstract: An air intake assembly for an engine of a motorcycle includes an air intake opening for receiving intake air, the intake air defining an air flow direction. The air intake assembly further includes an airbox at least partially defining a chamber. A partition is positioned within the chamber dividing the chamber into an expansion chamber in communication with and downstream of the air intake opening and a sub-chamber configured to reduce the noise associated with the flow of intake air through the air intake assembly during operation of the engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2007Publication date: January 8, 2009Inventors: Paul Pedersen, Brian Freeh, Matthew J. Publication number: 20090007884Abstract: An intake power control for an engine includes an electrically operable actuator coupled to a first throttle plate. Movement of the electrically operable actuator directly causes movement of the first throttle plate. A manually operable actuator is coupled to the electrically operable actuator, and movement of the manually operable actuator selectively causes movement of the first throttle plate. A linkage couples the first throttle plate to a second throttle plate of a second throttle body. The linkage is movable in response to movement of the first throttle plate to synchronize the movement of the second throttle plate with the movement of the first throttle plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2007Publication date: January 8, 2009Inventors: Jonathan M. Bunne, Daniel D. Hurda, Anthony D. Stefanelli
