  • Patent number: 12249477
Abstract: The present invention relates to large area field emission devices based on the incorporation of macroscopic, microscopic, and nanoscopic field enhancement features and a designed forced current sharing matrix layer to enable a stable high-current density long-life field emission device. The present invention pertains to a wide range of field emission sources and is not limited to a specific field emission technology. The invention is described as an X-ray electron source but can be applied to any application requiring a high current density electron source.

  • Publication number: 20050234798
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for conducting online auctions, and has particular application in conducting business on-line over a network of computers such as the Internet, for establishing materials supply contracts. In particular, the invention relates to control of a reserve price in an online bidding event. An online auction between a controlling party and at least two competing participants comprises the steps of setting a reserve price for the auction, conducting the auction between the at least two competing parties, determining whether a predetermined time trigger has been reached and suspending the auction if the reserve price is not reached at the time, determining whether the controlling party has selected to enter an optional reserve price negotiation phase, and revising the reserve price for that reserve price negotiation phase, and accordingly, extending the auction based on the revised reserve price.

  • Patent number: 6759936
Abstract: A coil module applied in a transformer. The coil module includes at least one conductive wire and an insulating encapsulator. A portion of the conductive wire is wound into coils of a certain loop number. The coils are encapsulated by the insulating encapsulator. A metal core is provided when manufacturing a transformer. Desired coil modules are selected and installed onto the transformer so as to surround the metal core of the transformer. The coil modules are thus connected in series or in parallel for forming a desired specification of the transformer.

  • Patent number: 5002240
Abstract: An aircraft pitch control system which includes a movable tail composed of a powered stabilizer which is angularly movable about a first axis, and elevators mounted on the rear end of the stabilizer which are angularly rotatable about a second axis displaced from the first axis. The stabilizer is controlled by an electric, pneumatic or hydraulically powered actuator, and the elevators are controlled manually through appropriate cables or mechanical linkage. The stabilizer actuator is controlled by movements of the elevators through an appropriate servo mechanism, so that angular movement of the stabilizer follows angular movement of the elevators. In the event of failure of the stabilizer actuator, the stabilizer is locked in a selected position by an automatic lock, and the pitch of the aircraft is controlled manually by the elevators alone.

  • Patent number: 4311004
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for processing an oxygen-containing gas for use in a chemical process producing a generally inert gas. A fluid handling rotor is carried by a rotary shaft for effecting a pressure change in the oxygen-containing gas. A housing surrounds the rotor and the adjacent portion of the shaft. A bearing, axially spaced from the rotor, supports the shaft in the housing for rotation. Lubricant is injected into the bearing and is caused to flow through the bearing and axially toward the rotor. A seal surrounds the shaft intermediate the rotor and the bearing and seals between the shaft and housing. A generally inert seal gas is extracted from the products of the chemical process and injected into the seal under a pressure greater than the pressures within the housing on either side of and immediately adjacent the seal.

  • Patent number: 4137052
Abstract: Apparatus and system for producing coal gas from coal, air and water. Pulverized coal is introduced into a rising stream of air and steam in a retort to constitute a fluidized or entrained bed. The coal reacts with the steam and air to form a gas consisting of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, methane and higher hydrocarbons. In some cases the air may be eliminated to produce nitrogen-free gas. In other instances, the production of methane and higher hydrocarbons may be suppressed to produce a gas consisting primarily of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The retort is constructed so that product gas and air may be burned in an annular space surrounding the central reaction column to produce hot flue gas. Steam tubes may be disposed in the annular space so that the steam and air introduced to the central reaction chamber may be super-heated by the hot flue gas.
