  • Patent number: 7347148
Abstract: A shipping pallet comprised of at least one layer of substantially parallel, structural deck boards attached to a plurality of stringers is disclosed. The layer of deck boards defines a three-dimensional, substantially rectilinear deck zone that is defined by a top plane, a bottom plane, and four side-edge planes. The pallet includes at least one non-structural member that carries a readable device within the deck zone of a pallet, in the space between two structural deck boards. The non-structural member has a Modulus of Elasticity and Modulus of Rupture that are both below that of the strongest deck board in the deck zone in which the non-structural member is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4611400
Abstract: A single or multi-edge blade including a fractured edge. The blade can be oriented to be left-handed, right-handed, or two-sided. The size, shape and sharpness of the blade are a function of controlled variables during fracturing. The sharpness of the blade occurs along and at a molecular level in a controlled process, dependent upon the material and the predetermined variables of fracturing. The blade can consist of glass, crystalline, non-crystalline, composite or like materials. The process of fracturing the material is through controlled pressure at discrete angles over a defined area with predetermined force during a specific time interval.

  • Patent number: 4543673
Abstract: Vaulted intraocular lens including a method and apparatus for vaulting universally an intraocular lens incorporating any geometrical configuration of closed or open loops attached to a lens such as a plano-convex or the like. The vaulted intraocular lens includes a base for each loop with either flat feet or flipped feet. The method of vaulting includes a fixture assembly including a base, a retainer, and a cap, the base and retainer screwing together and encompassing the lens including the plurality of loops, and the cap fitting down through a hole in the retainer providing gravity pressure against the lens and creating the vault. The vaulted lens, as well as the fixture and method of vaulting the lens, lends itself universally to any type of lens using any predetermined geometrically shaped loops, whether the loops be closed loops or open loops.
