  • Publication number: 20200346256
Abstract: A cleaning method is provided during which a cover assembly is removed from a pressure pot of a material spray system. The cover assembly is mated with a wash tank, where the cover assembly closes an opening into the wash tank. Cleaning solution is directed into a cavity of the wash tank and against the cover assembly to remove material residue from the cover assembly.

  • Publication number: 20190061073
Abstract: A method of separating a lap joint assembly may include positioning a fluid emitter relative to a lap joint assembly. The lap joint assembly may include an adhesive lap joint between a first component and a second component. The method may further include emitting a cryogenic fluid stream from the fluid emitter at the adhesive lap joint. Positioning the fluid emitter and emitting the cryogenic fluid stream may include orienting the fluid emitter such that an angle between the cryogenic fluid stream and the adhesive lap joint is less than 45 degrees. The first component may be a sheath and the second component may be an airfoil body.

  • Patent number: 9403259
Abstract: A method is provided for removing material from a workpiece using a material removal device and a measurement device. The method includes measuring a first dimension of the workpiece at a location with the measurement device. A jet of water is directed from the material removal device to the location to remove material from the workpiece at the location. A second dimension of the workpiece at the location is measured with the measurement device. The first dimension is compared to the second dimension to determine a measured thickness of the material removed from the workpiece at the location.

  • Patent number: 7824730
Abstract: A method of measuring a coating deposits a layer of coating on an object. A laser beam is projected on the layer of the coating. A reflection of the project laser beam is received by the laser sensor. From this information, the thickness of the layer of the coating on the object is determined. A value related to the thickness of the layer of the coating may then be compared to a desired value.
