Abstract: A multi-function hand tool is provided. The multi-function hand tool includes a first member and a second member pivotally connected to the first member such that the hand tool is pivotable between an open orientation and a closed orientation. The first member includes a first cutting element and a second cutting element disposed proximal to the first cutting element. The first cutting element has a first cutting blade and the second cutting element has a second cutting blade and a first at least one groove. The second member extends between a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the second member includes a third cutting element corresponding to the second cutting element. The third cutting element has a third cutting blade corresponding to the second cutting blade and at least one second groove corresponding to the first at least one groove.

Abstract: There is provided an improved insect repellent emulsion composition. The composition has an inner discontinuous phase and an outer continuous phase. The inner discontinuous phase and/or outer continuous phase has an insect repellent active therein. The inner discontinuous phase is generally dispersed in the outer continuous phase and is in the form of discrete droplets having a multimodal droplet size distribution. There is also provided a method of protecting skin from being bitten by insects in which the above composition is applied topically to the skin. There is also provided a method of enhancing the performance of a insect repellent emulsion by forming the inner discontinuous phase as a multiplicity of droplets having a multimodal droplet size distribution. There is also provided a method of preparing an emulsifier-free insect repellent composition.

Abstract: Compositions are provided which change color or modify a color characteristic of a personal care product in response to the application of mechanical energy, such as is provided by the user during application of the product. Methods of making color-changing compositions and personal care products incorporating color-changing compounds are also disclosed.

Abstract: A novel combination of silicon resin, amorphous silica and low oil absorbing spherical powder is described which when added to topical skin care compositions containing high concentrations of active agents, improves their aesthetic feel and ease of application.

Abstract: There is provided a photostable and synergistically enhanced topical sunscreen composition. There is further provided a method of enhancing the photostability of a sunscreen active in a topical sunscreen composition. There is further still provided a method of synergistically enhancing the UV absorbance of a sunscreen active in a topical sunscreen composition. The preferred compositions and methods of the present invention use a dibenzoylmethane sunscreen active, a Kaempferia galanga extract, and a cosmetically acceptable vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel aryl benzimidazole sulfonic acid esters and cosmetic compositions that employ the novel aryl benzimidazole sulfonic acid esters as sunscreens. The cosmetic compositions can be water, organic solvent or emulsion based. Also provided are methods of using the compositions to protect skin from exposure to the sun, and optionally, repel insects.

Abstract: There is provided a photostable and synergistically enhanced topical sunscreen composition that provides increased substantivity, waterproofness, sweat resistance and rub off resistance. There is further provided methods of enhancing the photostability of a sunscreen active in a topical sunscreen composition, synergistically enhancing the UV absorbance of a topical sunscreen composition having a sunscreen active, and enhancing the substantivity, waterproofness, sweat resistance and rub off resistance in a topical sunscreen composition.

Abstract: Disclosed is an insect repellent composition. The composition has an amount of an insect repellent active effective to repel insects when the composition is applied to the skin, and an amount of a urethane polymer sufficient to form a film on the surface of the skin. The composition also has a cosmetically-acceptable vehicle. Also disclosed is a method of repelling insects from the skin by applying the composition to the skin.
