Patent number: 9530174Abstract: A method and apparatus of a device that manages a thermal profile of a device by selectively throttling graphics processing unit operations of the device is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device monitors the thermal profile of the device, where the device executes a plurality of processes that utilizes a graphics processing unit of the device. In addition, the plurality of processes include a high priority process and a low priority process. If the thermal profile of the device exceeds a thermal threshold, the device decreases a first GPU utilization for the low priority process and maintains a second GPU utilization for the high priority process. The device further executes the low priority process using the first GPU utilization with the GPU and executes the high priority process using the second GPU utilization with the GPU.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2014Date of Patent: December 27, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Umesh Suresh Vaishampayan, Derek R. Kumar, Cecile Marie Foret, Anthony Graham Sumpter, Harshavardhan P. Gopalakrishnan, William E. Damon, III

Patent number: 8573183Abstract: Systems and methods for fuel tank tube routing and valve placement to prevent fuel leaks into the evaporative emissions system are disclosed. An embodiment provides a vehicle fuel tank venting system that uses strategically placed valves and a low profile tube routing to prevent the leakage of liquid fuel to an evaporative emission system in the event of a valve failure. In one aspect, a first and second outlet valve may be positioned such that at least one of the valves is above a full fuel level for a desired range of fuel tank tilted positions. Among the desired range, when the first valve is submerged in fuel, at least a portion of the first outlet tube may be above the full fuel level, and when the second valve is submerged, at least a portion of the second outlet tube may be above the full fuel level.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2010Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jason Anthony Graham, Scott Jeffrey Volchko, Tetsuhiro Ito, Hisayuki Goma

Patent number: 8525840Abstract: Some embodiments include a graphics processing with thermal management capabilities. The graphics processing unit may include a display controller, a microprocessing engine coupled to the display controller, and a clock circuit coupled to the display controller and the microprocessing engine. The clock circuit may further include a raw clock signal coupled to the display controller, a divider coupled to the raw clock signal, and a multiplexer coupled to the divider. The divider may generate a divided version of the raw clock signal, which may be coupled to the multiplexer along with the raw clock signal. The multiplexer may selectively provide the raw clock signal and/or the divided version of the clock signal to the microprocessing engine such that the microprocessing engine may receive a timing signal that is independent of operations of the graphics processing unit and result in fewer glitches.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2008Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Ian Hendry, Anthony Graham Sumpter

Patent number: 8495807Abstract: A prewinder apparatus attachable to a drive tool to install a helical coil insert includes a body connected to the drive tool. An adapter rotates and is releasably connected to the body at operator selected positions. A prewinder portion displaces in/out of the body. The prewinder portion translates into the body until a fastener engaged with the prewinder portion contacts a stop member defining a predetermined helical coil insert insertion depth. A mandrel axially extends from the prewinder portion when the prewinder portion moves into the body to rotatably insert the helical coil insert. A clutch engages/disengages the mandrel from a drive member. A second clutch or a stall device stalls the drive tool after coil insertion.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2009Date of Patent: July 30, 2013Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Jan Szewc, William Giannakakos, William J. Lutkus, Anthony Graham
