  • Patent number: 5685692
Abstract: A pump housing assembly having two parts, each part including an outer casing and an inner lining of elastomeric material. An insert component comprising a body, including a lining section, is sandwiched between the housing parts and cooperates with the inner lining of the two housing parts to form a pump chamber. The insert component further includes a drainage hole extending through the lining section of the component for permitting drainage of fluid from the pump chamber.

  • Patent number: 5078410
Abstract: A sealing member for sealing between a rotating surface (12) and a stationary cylindrical surface (13). The sealing member (8) is sealing engaged to the rotating surface (12) and is so constructed that) at a rotational speed greater than a predetermined speed of rotation of the rotating surface, the seal lip (27), due to centrifugal force, disengages from the stationary cylindrical surface (13) and, at or below the predetermined speed of rotation, sealingly engages the stationary cylindrical surface (13).

  • Patent number: 4984966
Abstract: A liner for a centrifugal pump of the type made from wear resistant metal is conventional made with a step (5) in the inner surface of the liner between the junction of the side liners (2 and 3) and the volute liner (1), because of the difficulty in machining the hydraulic surface of the liner. This step (5) causes localized accelerated wear. The liner of the present invention is made with a thickening (11) of the area adjacent the joint with the side liners (2 and b 3) which thickening protrudes inwardly beyond the inner surface of the side liners (2 and 3). Upon assembly the thickening (11) is reduced to align with the inner surface of the side liners (2 and 3), to reduce localized wear on the liner.

  • Patent number: 4895460
Abstract: An improved bearing assembly provided with means whereby grease is supplied via a passageway (10) to egress between 2 bearing rings (1), whereby grease will pass by the outer sealing ring (1A) to be expelled through the labyrinth passage (3) to flush contaminants out of the seal.

  • Patent number: 4844693
Abstract: A centrifugal slurry pump casing which reduces localized wear behind the cutwater caused when the pump operates at less than the best efficiency point flow rate. By reducing the throat area (13) of the casing (12) in the region of the cutwater (14) to 30-70% of the discharge neck (17) at the discharge flange (18), recirculation and vortexing due to slurry re-entering the volute is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 4664592
Abstract: In a centrifugal pump, an enclosed-type impeller is provided with a plurality of auxiliary side vanes on either or both of the front and back faces of the impeller which project toward and conform with suitable running clearances to the walls of the casing adjacent the impeller. Annular members projecting axially from the sides of the impeller about the periphery thereof serve to limit circulation of working fluid into the spaces along the sides of the impeller. In one embodiment, the annular projection defines radially oriented passages or channels for transmitting fluid which is driven by the centrifugal action of the side vanes.

  • Patent number: 4566850
Abstract: A pump comprising an outer casing, an inner liner and a rotatable impeller, the liner being mounted to the casing in a manner such that the liner is substantially secured against rotational movement within the casing but can expand, contract or deflect radially from the centerline of rotation of the impeller.

  • Patent number: 4264273
Abstract: A centrifugal pump casing of the volute type having a volute region comprising two circular segments of differing radii adjoining tangentially and a discharge branch leading tangentially away from the segment of greater radius. Liners for the casing are formed in the same manner. Preferably the adjoining circular segments are of common constant cross section.

  • Patent number: 4113407
Abstract: A pump casing for high pressure pumps is composed of two halves each half being provided with a liner. The two casing halves are joined by flanges which are recessed to receive corresponding flanges of the liners. At least one groove is provided in the recess formed by the casing flanges to receive and retain part of the liner flange material.

  • Patent number: 3977737
Abstract: A mechanical seal assembly for a rotating shaft passing into a pressure vessel and being axially adjustable is formed by a first seal face rotating with the shaft and engaging a fixed seal face. This latter face is supported in a housing which is axially adjusted with the shaft. The housing in turn passes through an opening in the pressure vessel and is permanently sealed therein by an O-ring seal.
