  • Publication number: 20150309938
Abstract: A method for resetting a data storage drive in a drive system. The method may include transmitting a first signal at a first frequency to a GPIO connector pin corresponding to the data storage drive, utilizing a passive circuit to filter out the first signal, the filtered signal triggering a passive logic circuit to generate an output, and transmitting the output to a drive reset pin on a data storage drive so as to reset the data storage drive. In some cases, the first signal may be initiated from a location remote from the data storage drive. In additional or alternative embodiments, the method may include monitoring a parameter of the data storage drive, the data storage system, and/or a connection therebetween. The first signal may be initiated when a predetermined condition, based, at least in part, on the monitored parameter, is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 7266122
Abstract: A method for allocating bandwidth in a communications environment is provided that includes receiving one or more data streams associated with one or more subscribers at a voice gateway. One or more algorithms included in the voice gateway are executed that are associated with traffic management of the data streams in order to generate a designated bandwidth value associated with one or more of the data streams. The designated bandwidth value is assigned to one or more of the data streams based on one or more of the algorithms that use an aggregation of one or more activity characteristics associated with a selected one or more of the subscribers.

  • Patent number: 7239628
Abstract: A network interface device includes a first interface, a power extractor, a transceiver, and a second interface. The first interface receives a signal that includes both power and packetized information. The power extractor extracts the power from the signal and powers the transceiver. The transceiver extracts the packetized information from the signal and communicates the information to a user device using the second interface.

  • Patent number: 7170854
Abstract: In a method for providing protection switching in a voice-over-broadband (VOB) gateway, egress traffic is multicast from a switch fabric to a working port and to a protection port. The working port forwards the egress traffic to a network in a working mode of operation, and the protection port forwards the egress traffic to the network in a protection mode of operation. Also, the working port forwards ingress traffic to the switch fabric in the working mode of operation, and the protection port forwards the ingress traffic to the switch fabric in the protection mode of operation. In one aspect, ingress traffic is forwarded from the protection port and not from the working port in the protection mode of operation. In another aspect, the working port and the protection port share status information, and the status information is used to select between the working mode of operation and the protection mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 7120153
Abstract: A method for cross connecting an ATM network and a telecommunication switch includes receiving ATM cells from the ATM network at a packet sorter and extracting data packets comprising address data and payload data from the ATM cells. Translated addresses are generated based on the address data, and new data packets are created based on the payload data and the translated addresses to create new ATM cells with the new data packets. The new ATM cells are scheduled to be transmitted from the packet sorter to an ATM switch in compliance with an ATM service contract. The new ATM cells are forwarded from the ATM switch to at least one distributed SAR, which converts the new ATM cells into TDM signals and transmits the TDM signals from to the telecommunication switch via at least one TDM port.

  • Patent number: 6879667
Abstract: A voice gateway (18) in a telecommunications network (1) includes a plurality of telephony port modules (102). Each telephony port module (102) receives telephony voice signals from a public switched telephony network (13). Each telephony port module (102) includes one or more digital signal processors (110) that perform one or more processing functions on the telephony voice signals. A particular telephony port module (102) may receive a telephony voice signal and use its associated digital signal processor (110) to process the received telephony voice signal or transfer the received telephony voice signal for processing to any digital signal processor (110) on any telephony port module (102). Telephony signals may also be transferred for processing to digital signal processors (110) on another voice gateway (18) in a voice gateway system.

  • Patent number: 6862644
Abstract: A backplane (11) of a telecommunications chassis includes a pair of controller slots that can receive respective controller modules. The backplane (11) also has a plurality of module slots that can receive respective telephony modules. Each of the pair of controller slots is connected by a plurality of buses to each of the plurality of module slots. The backplane (11) provides the ability to place any module type into any of the plurality of module slots.
