Publication number: 20160135575Abstract: The present invention is related to a removably attachable tourniquet holster comprising: wings hingeably attached to a back panel wherein the wings can be folded inward and removably attached to each other to define a slot for receiving a strap attached to an article; side support wings hingeably attached to the back panel; and, a front panel removably attached to the side support wings to define a tourniquet compartment for receiving a tourniquet. The tourniquet allows for a single handed opening of the tourniquet to reveal the tourniquet compartment allowing one handed retrieval of a tourniquet form the tourniquet holster. The tourniquet can be attached in a manner so as to reduce the impact on the existing fasteners of the article for which tourniquet holster is attached.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2014Publication date: May 19, 2016Inventors: Sean Solomon, Brent Bronson, Anthony Horton

Publication number: 20080113001Abstract: A barrier layer device is formed of an underlying biocompatible structure having a barrier layer coating that can exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, non-inflammatory properties, and/or adhesion-limiting properties, as well as generate a modulated healing effect on injured tissue. As implemented herein, the barrier layer is a non-polymeric cross-linked gel derived at least in part from a fatty acid compound, and may include a therapeutic agent. The underlying structure can be in the form of a surgical mesh. The barrier device is further provided with reinforced sections or portions to aid with the fastening of the barrier device for implantation purposes and prohibits or substantially reduces the occurrence of excessive stretching and tearing. The barrier device is implantable in a patient for short term or long term applications, and can include controlled release of the therapeutic agent.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2007Publication date: May 15, 2008Applicant: ATRIUM MEDICAL CORPORATIONInventors: Steve Herweck, Joseph Ferraro, Paul Martakos, Theodore Karwoski, Anthony Horton

Patent number: 4223206Abstract: A heating device for heating corrosive vapours includes a casing defining a vapour flow path having an inlet and an outlet. A tubular metallic electric resistance heating element is disposed in the flow path and arranged such that the vapours being heated successively pass in opposite directions along the interior and exterior of the element in flowing from the inlet to the outlet of the casing. To accomodate thermal expansion and contraction, one end of the element is connected to the casing by means of a flexible coupling there being provision to maintain at least a part of the flexible coupling immersed in a body of an electrically non-conductive liquid capable of shielding the coupling from the corrosive vapours during operation of the device. The non-conductive liquid may be maintained in the liquid state by circulation through a heat exchanger.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1978Date of Patent: September 16, 1980Assignee: Laporte Industries LimitedInventors: Anthony Horton, Thomas M.
