  • Patent number: 9375044
Abstract: A head-protector is described herein having a shell that is dimensioned to fit on the head of a user. The shell is formed with an opening to expose the face of the user. A locking mechanism attaches a lens to the shell and allows the lens to be pivoted between an operational position in which the lens covers the opening of the shell and a stowed position. Vents are established between an edge of the lens and the shell to establish an airflow over the inside surface of the lens to reduce fogging when the head-protector is subjected to an outside airflow such as wind. The vents can include a first vent that extends across the forehead of the user between the edge of the lens and the shell and a second vent that extends across the chin of the user between the edge of the lens and the shell.

  • Patent number: 9282779
Abstract: A skydiving helmet includes a lens for protecting the face of a skydiver during a skydiving event. An air-intake hole is formed on the helmet, and an airflow deflector plate is positioned against the air-intake hole. Thus, the deflector plate directs air over the inside surface of the lens to prevent fog from forming on this surface during a skydiving event.

  • Publication number: 20140081084
Abstract: A shared bite block is disclosed which can be employed to simultaneously establish a viable airway for a patient, while providing surgical access to the esophagus of the patient. Structurally, the device includes a hollow, tubular shaped body portion that is formed as a sidewall with open ends. The sidewall surrounds an interior space and a partition extends across the interior space to divide the space and establish a hole and a guideway. A pair of extensions is each attached to the proximal end of the body portion and a flange is formed at the distal end of the body portion. In use, the patient bites down on the body portion between the extensions and the flange. An airway tube can then be inserted into the guideway of the body portion. Unobstructed surgical access into the esophagus is established through the hole of the body portion of the device.

  • Publication number: 20130152283
Abstract: A multi-purpose helmet includes a lens for protecting the face of a user during an activity such as skydiving or selected winter sports. An air-intake hole is formed on the helmet, and an airflow deflector plate is positioned against the air-intake hole. Thus, the deflector plate directs air over the inside surface of the lens to prevent fog from forming on this surface during the activity.

  • Patent number: 8112867
Abstract: A cutting tool and its method for manufacture involves a blade member having an extension. Together, the blade member and extension are die cut from sheet metal and a cutting edge is then formed adjacent the extension. A metal or plastic handle is formed with a slit, and the blade member is positioned in the slit to leave the cutting edge exposed between the extension and the handle. The blade member is then secured to the handle.

  • Patent number: 7533595
Abstract: A lamina cutter includes a handle with a blade having a cutting edge mounted thereon. A guard member is affixed to the blade, and is positioned at a distance from the handle to establish a channel having a width “w” therebetween. The blade then extends between the handle and the guard member to present its cutting edge across the width of the channel. In use, a lamina (e.g. a sheet) having a thickness “t” (wherein “t”<“w”), is advanced through the channel and against the cutting edge to cut the lamina.

  • Patent number: 5829321
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a safety/rescue knife requires the forming of four blank laminates. Each blank laminate has a handle portion and includes a base arm which is attached to the handle portion. Also, each blank laminate has an extension arm which extends from the base arm to define a groove therebetween. One blank laminate is further formed with a cut out in its base arm, and another blank laminate is further formed with a cut out in its extension arm. The method then requires aligning each of the cut out laminates with a respective blank laminate to create blade recesses. Next, cutting blades are placed in the recesses, and the cut out laminates are juxtaposed in alignment. The blank laminates are then connected together to hold the inner laminates and the blades therebetween with the blades crossed to establish a cutting angle in the groove.
