  • Patent number: 6695277
Abstract: A method of constructing a wall form and of forming a wall includes employing a modular concrete form system having a clamping device to clamp adjacent modular form members to one another. The clamping device includes an elongated bar, a pair of clamps mounted on the bar, and a pair of clip assemblies mounted on the bar, the bar being shaped to complementarily engage the perimeter frames of the modular form members. The jaws of the clamps retain the perimeter frames of the adjacent modular form members against the bar, which clamps the form members to the bar and retains them in a flush orientation with one another. The clip assemblies each having a slidable tie clip formed with an opening for receiving a portion of a tie therein. The tie is tapered and is nominally of a circular cross section and formed with a plurality of spaced groves at the alternate ends thereof.

  • Publication number: 20020100857
Abstract: A clamping device is configured to clamp adjacent modular form members to one another. The clamping device includes an elongated bar and a pair of clamps mounted on the bar. A plurality of gusset plates are disposed on and protrude outwardly from the bar to complementarily engage the perimeter frames of the modular form members. The jaws of the clamps retain the perimeter frames of the adjacent modular form members against the bar, which clamps the form members to one another and retains them in a flush orientation with one another. The bar is generally channel shaped and includes a pair of reentrant legs adjacent a throat. A number of auxiliary attachments are cooperably mountable on the bar.

  • Patent number: 4611784
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming poured concrete walls using crane-lifted type jump scaffolding optionally including associated wallforms, and particularly including a unique automatic safety lock system keyed to the lifting operation to anchor and secure the scaffolding to the previously poured shearwall. This latching system allows for safe and efficient placement of the scaffolding and eliminates the need to have workmen present on unlocked scaffolding, and especially removes the reason for workmen to be tempted to ride the scaffolding while it is being lifted.

  • Patent number: 4473209
Abstract: Prefabricated modular wallform units are formed with panels designed to mate against one another and to define an aperture through which a tie rod can pass. End rails at the mating edges of the panels have webs, interior end flanges to fit against a sheet of sheathing material (e.g., plywood), and exterior end flanges to be supported against strongback walers. Elongated kerfs are formed in mating edges of the interior and exterior end flanges. These mate to define a universal through-passage suitable for any of a variety of types of tie rod. A median flange extends along the length of the mating side of the web on a line intermediate the end flanges. The median flanges are narrower than the respective end flanges and serve as distance fingers for locating the tie rods. Universal holes are also provided in the webs adjacent the median flanges and on the sides away from the interior end flanges. A T-bolt can be inserted through the universal holes of two mating end rails to join two mating panels together.

  • Patent number: 4422617
Abstract: An edge joist is provided for installation along an edge of a wallform sheathing panel. The edge joist is generally formed as a S-beam. A front flange thereof is generally L-shaped and engages the rear surface of the panel at one edge thereof. A rear flange is arranged generally parallel to the front flange and has a provision, such as a T-channel bolt slot, for connecting to wallform walers. A stepped web connects the lower edge of the front flange to an upper edge of the rear flange, and preferably includes a lower web plate extending back from the lower edge of the front flange, a riser extending slopingly back and upward from the rear plate, and an upper web plate extending rearward from the top of the riser to the rear flange. The front flange can have a toe plate overlapping and protecting the panel edge and a flange plate extending upward along the rear surface of the panel. Preferably, beads are formed along the lower surface of the web lower plate to form seals when edge joists are butted together.

  • Patent number: 4405112
Abstract: A gang form or tie rod holding bolt is adapted for holding a tie rod passing through abutting frames of prefabricated panel units, the frames having mating slots. The tie rod holding bolt includes a body portion and a slot leg for extending through the mating slots, a middle leg for loading the frames, and a tie rod engaging leg for transferring a load from the tie rod to the holding bolt. The form slot leg and the middle leg are horizontally offset to straddle the tie rod and the middle leg is adapted to transfer the load to the frames, thereby providing the bolt with great stability under heavy loads. The design avoids eccentric load on the bolt. An assembly includes the bolt, tie rod, wedge pin and two frames.

  • Patent number: 4356993
Abstract: Corner forming apparatus is disclosed, including novel generally L-shaped member having a seating flange projecting from one leg of the member substantially parallel to the other leg. The seating flange is adapted to shield an edge of a panel when the panel is seated on the seating flange. The other leg of the L-shaped member is securable to a panel-support beam mounted on the back of said panel, and is provided with at least one aperture therein to receive fastening elements for securing another panel to the other leg such that a surface of the other panel and the outer surface of said one leg are substantially coplanar. Also a unique outside corner waler useful with the inside corner forming member in quick and accurate assembly of a complete corner wall form. Said waler having a major leg and a minor leg each joined at one end at right angles by an apertured web and being of respectively different heights such that said waler seats at about a 45.degree. angle.

  • Patent number: 4350318
Abstract: A concrete wallform system comprises a vertical waler (formed of a pair of spaced channel beams bolted back to back) for stiffening the horizontal joists, which in turn back the forming panels, and a tie rod extending between the channel beams, and a tie connector plate connecting the tie rod to the waler. The connector plate is formed as a flat plate with an aperture approximately at the center and a hook portion along one edge thereof. The hook portion overfits a lip on one wall of one of the channel beams. A bolt clip near the other edge of the flat plate fastens the connector plate to a lip of a corresponding wall of the companion channel beam. This bolt clip is standard hardware of the type used on aluminum joists (e.g., to join the waler to the joists). A wing nut disposed at the aperture stresses the tie rod so that when wet cement is poured into the wallform, forces that are transmitted through the wallform to the waler are taken up by the tie rod.
