    Abstract: An aircraft handling system, particularly applicable to helicopters on board ship, said system incorporating a plurality of hydraulic winches for effecting movement of an aircraft from a first position to a second position; and secondary restraining mechanism preferably including hydraulically-actuated constant tension reels for controlling movement of an aircraft from said first position to said second position in order to prevent lateral movement or toppling of the aircraft.
