  • Patent number: 9698625
Abstract: Systems and methods include operating a power system in a first state, and detecting an anticipated load increase. The systems and methods further include changing operation of the power system from the first state to a second state upon detection of the anticipated load increase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 2014
Date of Patent: July 4, 2017
    Assignee: Kohler Co.
Inventors: Joseph Petrus Eduardus Raats, Anthony J. Hackbarth, Isaac S. Frampton
  • Patent number: 9281716
Abstract: A power management system may include a generator controller. The generator controller may (i) operate the generator; and (ii) prohibit a transfer switch from supplying first or second power to an output of the transfer switch. In some systems, the first power may be primary power (e.g., from a primary power source such as a utility) while the second power is secondary power (e.g., from a secondary power source such as a generator). In other systems, the second power may be primary power while the first power is secondary power, or both the first and second power may be secondary power.

  • Patent number: 8791814
Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a remote annunciator 10 that includes an enclosure 11 and a control 12 within the enclosure 11. The control 12 receives signals S from a plurality of transfer switches 13A, 13B, 13C, 13D and at least one generator 14 that is connected to at least one of the transfer switches 13A, 13B, 13C, 13D. The control 12 displays a status of electrical connections that include the plurality of transfer switches 13A, 13B, 13C, 13D and the at least one generator 14. In some embodiments, the control 12 recognizes when the plurality of transfer switches 13A, 13B, 13C, 13D and the at least one generator 14 are connected to the control 12.

  • Patent number: 8670224
Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a power management system includes a primary power source and a secondary power source. The power management system further includes an enclosure and an electrical component located within the enclosure. The electrical component is connected to the primary power source and the secondary power source. The power management system further includes a membrane that is mounted to an outside of the enclosure. The membrane extends through the enclosure such that the membrane provides information relating to operation of the power management system.
