  • Patent number: 6598897
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching a towing device having two retractable pins on opposing sides for engaging within two apertures formed in a receiving member. A first end of the apparatus for attaching a towing device is generally box-like shape and is dimensioned to be received within the receiving member. The second end of the apparatus for attaching a towing device has a towing device attachment for attaching a trailer thereto. Once the first end is slid within the receiver and the pins of the apparatus for attaching a towing device are aligned with the apertures of the receiving member, the pins are then actuated to an extended locked position, thereby securing the apparatus for attaching a towing device to the receiving member. To remove the apparatus for attaching a towing device from the receiving member, the pins are simply actuated to a retracted position, and the apparatus for attaching a towing device is slid therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5253928
Abstract: A method of mounting a kinetic wheel balancer on a vehicle wheel involves a wheel cover having a interior annular recess near the periphery. The wheel balancer is merely placed in the recess and the wheel cover is installed. The balancer is locked firmly in place between the annular recess and a tire ring on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 5163797
Abstract: Ornamental lug nut covers, protecting the a vehicle lug nut and threads are formed with a outwardly extending flanges with edges folded over to capture the rims of retainer rings having inward facing tabs that butt and lock against the surfaces of lug nuts. The flange may be used to secure vehicle wheel covers having oversize mounting holes that can fit around the outside of the nut so that only the flange and not the lug nut secures the wheel cover.

  • Patent number: 5120174
Abstract: A warning device for indicating undesired rotation of a threaded nut on a non-rotatable threaded shaft includes a tight fitting shell for covering the nut and a manually rotatable highly visible indicator on the end of the shell to be adjusted to a predetermined initial alignment. Any torque change caused by nut rotation will therefore rotate the indicator from its predetermined alignment.

  • Patent number: 4974909
Abstract: Apparatus for attaching an ornamental wheel cover to a vehicle having an extending cylindrical wheel hub. A ring having several attached legs or claws is secured to the hub by overlying the legs on the hub and clamping them in place. In one embodiment the wheel cover is removably attached to the ring with an open circular spring having a plurality of outwardly extending points that engage aligned slits in the ring and a central cup in the wheel cover. In a second embodiment, outwardly bent tabs with threaded holes on the ring are aligned with screw holes in the face of the wheel cover so that ring and wheel cover are interconnected by screws.

  • Patent number: 4961611
Abstract: Ornamental auto wheels mounted with conventional lug bolts or nuts and designed to be used without wheel covers are provided with ornamental wheel covers that cover only the lugs and hub area to discourage theft of the wheels. The end of a threaded shaft is attached to the center of an elongated bar which may pass through the hub hole at an angle and which is axially locked in the hub hole and against the rear surface of the wheel by a front plate screwed onto the shaft. The wheel cover to be mounted has a flanged tubular shaped nut retaining cup which has a central hole that will pass only the smaller diameter of two diameters of a locking nut which is threaded onto the shaft to secure the wheel cover to the wheel. The larger outer end of the nut closely fits within the larger diameter of the retaining cup, the outwardly extending flange of which prevents its passage through the wheel cover.

  • Patent number: 4807658
Abstract: A flexible extension air hose particularly for use with dual wheel tires on trucks or recreation vehicles. The hose contains a slidable central cable that extends to a nozzle that screws to the tire valve stem and contacts the valve. The other end of the hose is fitted with an coupling that may be manually adjusted to compensate for variations in the length of the central cable that is caused by bending in the hose. Thus, a air service nozzle pressed to the coupling causes the cable to depress the tire valve so that air may be added or the tire deflated from some convenient position.

  • Patent number: 4728235
Abstract: A spring steel clip for connecting a first member to a second member is U-shaped with side tabs on one leg that is bent toward the inner surface of the other leg for limiting the amount the legs may be pressed together by a screw passing through holes in each leg and into an attached threaded nut. The screw may pass through a hole in a first member for connecting it to the edge of a second member to which the clip is clamped.

  • Patent number: 4725100
Abstract: An ornamental wheel cover assembly for front and rear wheels of recreation vehicles, trucks, busses or the like includes a hub cover which covers the vehicle hub and has a flange with holes that freely fit over the vehicle lug nuts and a second radial lip having a diameter somewhat larger than the diameter of the central hole in a wheel cover disc. The hub cover is first applied and held in position by the wheel cover disc which is attached to the vehicle wheel by small screws passing through the wheel cover disc to U-shaped clips that attach to the edges of the hand hold openings in the vehicle wheel.
